Campaign websiteBasler's campaign website stated the following:It's About The Economy! We must also restore an economy where hard work leads somewhere. People should be able to start a business, buy a home, raise a family, learn a trade, advance in their career, and build a better life. That is the promise of America — and it should not be reserved only for the wealthy, connected, or politically powerful. It's About The Family!Across Washington, families are doing everything right — working hard, raising children, caring for aging parents, serving their communities — yet life keeps getting more expensive and less secure. Housing costs are too high. Groceries are too expensive. Taxes and regulations keep piling up. Too many parents wonder whether their children will have the same opportunities they had. It's About Public Safety!Safe communities are the foundation of a healthy society. We can show compassion to people in crisis while still holding people accountable for crime, addiction-fueled disorder, and policies that make neighborhoods less safe. Families, seniors, workers, and small businesses all deserve to feel secure. It's Time For Change!I’m running for Congress because families deserve a better future. We need to make life affordable again, support parents, strengthen public safety, and rebuild real opportunity for every person to learn, build, and contribute. It's About Common Sense!I will strive to bring common sense, accountability, and real-world experience to Congress. My focus is simple: affordability, family, safety, opportunity, and a better future for our children.I respectfully ask for your vote/your donation/your support!— Douglas Michael Basler's campaign website (July 16, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source. Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a small business owner, a community volunteer, and a family man. I am running to restore your voice in the US Congress. The problems that face our nation are not insurmountable but it will take commitment, energy, and courage to take the steps necessary to turn around this economy, keep our communities safe, and lower energy costs. I will fight for you!

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Inflation can be slowed and stopped by taking immediate action to strengthen the dollar.America has vast energy reserves. I will work to bring down energy costs for all of us.Crime and homelessness can be greatly reduced by restoring responsible police power.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I will work to restore energy independence, and fiscal responsibility to the federal government. This will greatly reduce energy costs, food prices, and strengthen our jobs and the economy.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I respect the great leaders of history who were able to inspire generations and positively affect history. Abraham Lincoln, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan and Winston Churchill to name a few.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Honesty, integrity, and courage.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

Energy, curiosity, commitment, and tenacity.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To represent faithfully the constituents of the district.

What legacy would you like to leave?

A better America

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

The US House is the most powerful branch of government and closest to the people who must elect the members every two years. It also holds the power of the budget and impeachment authority.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

Some experience is helpful for procedural reasons. Life experience and integrity are even more important.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

Our greatest challenge is to protect our personal freedoms and liberties from all enemies foreign and domestic. To maintain our territorial sovereignty and to restore manufacturing of all crucial and strategic industries back to the USA. It is time to "on-Shore" industry for greater national security and prosperity.

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

Small Business- Small businesses comprise nearly 70% of our economy and deserve a passionate voice.

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

Yes, keeps them accountable.

I believe elected office should be like "Jury Duty" and that legislators should be citizens from all walks of life. I support term limits if it can promote this cause.

Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

Abraham Lincoln

Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?

A woman in our district was recently assaulted standing in line at a local Fred Meyer grocery store. The assailant attempted to steal her purse. No one even tried to help. She successfully fought off her assailant, however this story and many like it show the need for new leadership that takes public safety seriously.

Tell us your favorite joke.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Yes, compromise in policy making is critical, while maintaining moral clarity and integrity.

The Constitution says that all bills for raising revenue must originate in the House. What role would this power play in your priorities if elected?

I will fight to end deficit spending and restore a balanced budget. This will greatly strengthen the dollar and seriously slow inflation.

Campaign website

Basler's campaign website stated the following:

LOWER GAS PRICES NOW!

The path to lower gas prices is ENERGY INDEPENDENCE! We have more than enough energy resources here domestically to amply supply all of our energy needs and to be a net energy exporter. There is no reason why our energy needs should be held hostage to foreign nations who do not support us! Doug Basler will fight to responsibly open every domestic resource, and to build the Keystone pipeline and other projects that increase domestic reserves and lower prices.

A STRONG DOLLAR STOPS INFLATION

The highest inflation that America has ever seen is happening now and the career politicians are only making it worse. Out of control government spending, borrowing, and printing money, is driving our economy to the brink of disaster. The budget must be balanced and spending brought to heel immediately. We must let our voices be heard and un-elect the career politicians in both parties that are responsible for this economic disaster. Take action today and get involved. America is depending on all of us to do our part.

OPEN BORDERS POSE AN EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO OUR NATION

Over 1 million illegal immigrants have already crossed our border since the Biden administration took office. This is an attempt to steal our nation from the citizens and give it to others. It is nothing less than an invasion. The current administration has now proposed granting $450,000 to EACH unlawful immigrant that supposedly suffered on account of our laws being enforced. This is an outrage and must be stopped and reversed NOW. I will fight to secure our borders, finish the wall and insure that only legal immigrants are admitted to our nation.

DEFUNDING POLICE IS A DISASTER FOR ALL OF US!

The murder rate has doubled in Seattle since all this craziness about defunding the police has started. Property crimes, theft and other crimes are skyrocketing out of control. It's time for us to say NO to the defund movement supported by the Democrats. Let's stand together and make America SAFE again! I stand with our police and first responders. I will always fight for them and for all of us to have the safe neighborhoods, parks, and schools we expect from our hard earned tax dollars. The number one role of government is to protect us and our God given rights!

ELECTION INTEGRITY

The 2020 election has shown us the need to continue to fight. With widespread voter fraud allegations and the startling results from the Arizona audit, I'm committed to seeing our voting system improved and secured so that every legal vote is counted and no illegal votes are counted.

Public confidence in the integrity of the vote is critical for peace and stability in our country. We are told to trust the system, but we shouldn't have to trust, we should know that our voting system is secure and reflects the actual will of the electorate.

I am 100% committed to insuring that our system is legitimate!

THE "PANDEMIC" EMERGENCY SHOWED 'THE RULING CLASS' TRUE INTENTIONS!

The attack on our CONSTITUTIONAL rights was unprecedented in our nations history. Mandates do not have the force of law yet our elected officials acted with impunity against law abiding citizens that did not comply. It's time to fight back at the ballot box. Join Doug Basler in standing for the freedom that has been won for us through the generations that have gone before. This is our time to stand and fight! Please make a donation to help us defeat those who would strip us of our God given Liberty![6]

The following issues were listed on Basler's campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

Economy: The strongest economy the world has ever seen was created by freedom, innovation and private enterprise. The greatest lifter of citizens out of poverty into financial independence and secure retirement has been home ownership. The foreclosure crisis has dashed the hopes of countless families in Washington and across the nation. I will work to end non-judicial foreclosure and to once again make home ownership affordable, safe and common. Reinvigorating the economy will require a fresh approach that limits government regulation and excessive job killing taxation, plus incentivizing domestic businesses so that they will once again choose America first for manufacturing.

Environment: I am committed to responsible environmental protection while maintaining economic development and private property rights. The United States has long been the world leader in conservation, protection and management of the environment, all while protecting private ownership of property and maintaining a vibrant economy. The fact is that if the U.S. stopped using all fossil fuels, the global reduction of carbon emissions would be negligible. International cooperation must be an integral component in environmental protection.

Equality: The role of government in society is to insure that all people are treated fairly and equitably and to protect our God given rights. It is improper for elected officials and government agencies to play favorites by picking winners and losers based on income, social status or worse, political contributions. The U. S. Government must act to guarantee a fair and level playing field for our families, businesses, and communities.

Energy: We have all seen the benefit of the free market in energy with the dramatic decrease in gas prices. The free market, and public demand, will continue to fuel traditional and emerging energy technologies. I will continue encouraging innovation and balanced regulation that will keep America moving, strong and prosperous.
