In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I'm a Family Nurse Practitioner and my chief interest is Healthcare. In order to be able to focus on your health, you need to have all your basic needs met. You need safe, healthy food. You need an affordable, safe place to live and you need reliable transportation. And of course, the cost of Healthcare shouldn't prevent you from seeking the care you need.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Growing up, I saw that most families could have a home of their own on a single salary and have enough left over to own a camp, boat or snowmobile (or all three). Today, young people have practically given up imagining they could own a home or have a family. There's no reason we can't have an economy like we had in the 50s and 60s. I intend to keep that vision in mind when making legislation.Maine used to have some of the best schools and we had the highest high school graduation rate in the country. That's no longer true. I support paying educators like the advanced professionals they are and I support making sure every student who wants to play a sport or participate in music or theater, or any other extra-curricular activity can do so without worrying about the cost.Climate change is affecting our lobster men and women, fishing industry, and our blueberry growers ability to make a living. In fact all of the state's agriculture and forestry are affected. Climate change affects what we have to pay for utilities and endangers many of our citizen's health. Maine is regarded as a model for a clean environment and natural beauty but all that's at risk. I'm committed to making sure those affected can be helped and to take any measures Maine can take to mitigate the risks.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Healthcae is central but so much policy affects Healthcare that I'm also passionate about housing, transportation, food quality and safety and the cost of medications.
