In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am running for the Vermont House because I believe in the people of Waterford, Ryegate, and Barnet . I am an optimist - believes that we can get things done by working together to solve complex problems. I am committed to work to make sure our children get the best education possible, to make our District an affordable place to live, to improve access to affordable health care for evearyone, to make housing more affordable, and to defend our freedom of speech and fairness of the law for ALL Vermonters. I have spent my career working with a wide range of community members and organizations to make life better for Vermonters. I had a leadership role in Northeast Kingdom Youth Services, where the Court Diversion Program and the Guardian Ad Litem training efforts were started. At Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA), I led efforts to establish the Gilman Housing Trust (now known as Rural Edge) to create housing that’s affordable, provided start-up support to Rural Community Transportation (RCT), which provides public transportation and transportation to needed medical services. I also provided ongoing, strong leadership for Head Start and other early childhood programs.

served as Director of the Vermont Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) where I gained a hands-on understanding of how the legislative process works and how to navigate it by helping to get Vermont's Weatherization funding reauthorized for the first time.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

To make sure our children get the best education by sharing services between school districts so more can go into the classroom. I also will work to safeguard our unique public/private school system in Barnet and Waterford,Make our District an affordable place to live by putting an end to increasingly unaffordable property taxes by w,orking to make owning a home a reality for hardworking Vermonters, and by improving access to affordable health care for everyone.I will steadfastly defend our freedom of speec and ensure fairness of the law for ALL Vermonters.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am especially interested in housing - finding ways to reduce unnecessary regulations so that our downtowns and villages can encourage and promote housing development. I also want to find ways to promote the rehabilitation of existing older buldings into safe and affordable housing. I think we should also provide incentives, including downpayment assistance, to first time homebuyers so that families can afford to stay here.
