In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My wife and I have had the good fortune to own a home in a wonderful community, to send our kids to local schools, and to enjoy the fantastic parks and open spaces that are within minutes of where we live.
I am running because we need strong leadership that supports Colorado's working families so everyone has these opportunities. I am committed to fighting for stronger public schools, better wages and opportunities that foster real financial stability, and protect our open spaces and environment.
As a lawyer, I strive to listen carefully, research the issues, look for areas of common ground, and work hard to accomplish my client's goals. I do the same when I serve our community as a City Councilor and I make the same commitment to you.
I am running for the State House to fight for working families, seniors, and everyone in our community. I want to serve so that everyone has an opportunity to live in dignified housing in safe communities; to have real health benefits; to get paid a fair wage; to receive an education and training; to protect our open spaces, and to make sure that government works for all of us -- not just for those with power and means.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Fighting for Working Families. We need leaders who will aggressively challenge the status quo. I fight for my clients in court and at the negotiating table; as a City Councilor, I fight for my constituents in Lakewood. I am ready to fight for you and all working families in the Colorado legislature. It Shouldn't Be This Hard. Every Colorado family deserves the opportunity to make their version of the American Dream a reality, and it shouldn't be this hard. It shouldn't be this hard to own a home in a friendly community; to find work that treats you with dignity; and to have access to meaningful healthcare.Listening to You. I have a track record of sitting down and listening to my constituents and others whether I agree with them or not. This is not for show. I truly want to hear your answer to the question: "What Is Important to You?" I don't claim to have all of the answers, but I promise to listen and work to get things done for you, our neighbors, and our community.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Expanding home ownership and stable housing opportunities; increasing the creation of jobs with companies who treat workers with dignity and who will help us tackle the stubborn problems facing Colorado; securing stable education funding at K-12 and expanding pathways for apprenticeships and post-high school opportunities.
So many of our neighbors do not have access to jobs that treat them with dignity and pay enough to keep up with the ever-crushing costs of living in our great state. We have any number of stubborn issues facing Colorado and we will need everyone's help tackling them.
