In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
David has been a resident of WV for 60 years and is currently an engineer for RESPEC designing Abandoned Mine Lands and taking black lands and turning them green again. I have worked hard all of my life and would like to do some good for the great people of WV and the USA. I have lived a life of service and recently returned from my 9th trip to Kenya and working on a Potable water system that supplies water to approximately 4000 persons near a village called Kager. I have served in the engineering department in the city of Morgantown and was the engineer for the traffic commission helping to solve traffic issues throughout the city. I certainly am not an experienced politician but feel competent to do some good things for the people. WV is a state that is near to the heart of America and the opportunities to help WV are great. It does seem that in some ways WV has been behind, but I do feel that the opportunities are there to make WV excel. I want very much to bring industry to WV beyond extraction. I do feel it a great honor to serve and work in WV.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Industry beyond Extraction. I do support the extraction industries because there is nothing to replace those resources with presently. But I also want to draw in other businesses to WV.West Virginia is a good place with good people who deserve good things. Education will be a key point in serving WV and giving more people opportunitiesThe corruption that has hurt USA politics must be stopped.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Corruption is one thing. It seems that politicians get away with things that I as a working person would never be allowed to do. Education is a huge concern because I first believe that some schools are better equipped than others. Rural schools should be reviewed and updated as necessary. The curriculums should be improved to better prepare students for the world and work place. Qualified teachers of good character should be used to teach our children. The quality of education should be better suited for what young people will face today.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
David Purkey, Republican for US Senate. I am an almost lifelong resident of WV and residing in Marion County. I grew up in a low-income household that was cold in the winter and hot in the summer. I have been blessed to have some great people in my life that helped me make great decisions that forever changed my destiny. I never dreamed that I could go to college, but I have completed courses at WVU and Fairmont State. I have spent my life helping people both here and in other countries such as Kenya. I recently just came back from Kenya where I was able to re-engineer a water system, make repairs and provide two new water tanks to a community of over 4000 people. I am Pro-Life and believe in the Bill of Rights. All of my life, I have worked hard to achieve what I have and have done for others. I am not afraid of hard work. If programs are right, all should be blessed by them and not just some. I believe that you will find that I will work hard for WV and for the USA. I do have a great interest in helping our communities and country. I hold fast to values that are right and fully support our miners and the people of WV. The corruption in America must be stopped, and it is important that people be elected that will stand for our people and not themselves.

Willing to work for you!Make America the best!Make West Virginia the Best!
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Areas of strong interest are stopping corruption. Also, I have a strong interest in making more access to West Virginia. Mining is still a strong part of the economy of WV and it is my desire to make it safe and to make it continue. It is my desire to see opportunities arise for employment and to overcome poverty in communities where it is rampant.
