Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
David Matthews is an Ozark native, husband, father of five, and Republican candidate for Congress in Alabama’s Second Congressional District. He is running because Lower Alabama deserves serious conservative representation from someone who understands its families, farmers, small businesses, military communities, and rural way of life.
David served as a two-time Trump Administration appointee and worked at USDA on issues directly connected to Alabama, including agriculture, rural development, federal program delivery, government operations, and making agencies work better for the people they are supposed to serve. He has seen how Washington works, where it fails, and why Congress needs more members who understand the Executive Branch, not just the politics around it.
His campaign is focused on practical conservative leadership: lowering costs for families, strengthening agriculture, fixing the supply chain, supporting small businesses, securing the border, defending constitutional freedoms, supporting law enforcement, standing with military families, and making government more accountable to taxpayers.
David is running to bring Alabama values, real experience, and a work ethic rooted in faith, family, and service to Congress.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
David Matthews is a two-time Trump Administration appointee with real experience inside the federal government. He understands how agencies work, where they waste money, and how poor execution hurts families, farmers, businesses, and local communities. Congress needs more conservatives who know how to turn principles into results.David will fight for Alabama’s farmers, small businesses, rural communities, and working families. That means lowering everyday costs, strengthening agriculture, improving access to markets and credit, fixing the supply chain from farm to family, supporting Main Street, and building an economy that lets people stay and raise their families where they grew up.David will defend faith, family, freedom, and the rule of law. He supports strong border security, law enforcement, parental rights, religious liberty, free speech, the Second Amendment, and policies that put taxpayers and citizens ahead of Washington bureaucracy.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
David is personally passionate about making government work for the people paying for it. That includes cutting waste, improving accountability, speeding up federal program delivery, and making agencies easier for citizens, farmers, and small businesses to navigate. He cares deeply about agriculture, rural development, supply chain policy, family affordability, border security, military families, workforce training, constitutional freedoms, and building an Alabama economy where young people can stay, work, build businesses, and raise families.
