In their own words

State House

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm David Boyd, and I'm running for Indiana State Representative because Hoosiers in Franklin and Perry Townships are enduring an affordability crisis, and the incumbent is not properly advocating or representing constituents at the Statehouse.

I am a public servant at heart and am committed to improving the lives of Hoosiers through policy and adequate representation.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Improve Roads and Infrastructure: Hoosiers in District 90 deserve safe roads to get from one point to another, additional roundabouts that encourage traffic flow, and well-planned parks for recreational activities. Damaged roads and potholes continue to affect Hoosiers across our state in negative ways, costing residents additional money in the way of tire replacements, wheel repairs, and suspension adjustments. Historically, road funding in Indiana has been unequally distributed and inadequate for many communities. It is time to identify and prioritize fiscally responsible long-term funding solutions to improve our roads and infrastructure in District 90 and throughout the State of Indiana.Strong Public Schools: Hoosier children are the future and the education they receive in Franklin and Perry Townships plays an important role in shaping their view of the world; determining how they contribute to their local communities. The overwhelming majority of Hoosier children attend public schools — which is why we must ensure public schools are adequately funded and equipped with the necessary tools to educate, support, and prepare the next generation of Hoosiers. That means attracting and retaining quality teachers by increasing salaries to meet the realities of inflation, increasing state funding for public schools so they can thrive, and mandating student-teacher ratios in order to achieve manageable class sizes.Support Hoosier Families: Affordability is top of mind for Hoosier families experiencing financial pain due to the result of tariffs, long-term inflation, and the ongoing war with Iran. Whether its cuts to healthcare, skyrocketing utility rates, or wages that fail to keep pace with the rising cost of living — Hoosiers in District 90 are having a hard time keeping up and relief is needed to ensure no Hoosier is left behind. It is time to bolster support from the state government by increasing access to medicaid, regulating utility rates and increases, and subsidizing housing assistance programs so that renters can avoid eviction and homeowners can afford to keep their homes.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Improve roads and infrastructure. Strong public schools. Support Hoosier families.

U.S. House

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm David Boyd and I work in the financial services industry as an insurance adjuster. I am also a former employee of the U.S. Departments of Commerce and Homeland Security.

I'm running for Congress because strength is needed in Washington, DC to solve the complex issues facing Hoosiers.

I believe bipartisanship is the key to breaking down barriers and a pathway to clearing the gridlock in Congress. As a moderate Democrat, I understand it is essential to collaborate with Republicans and Independents in order to produce meaningful results for the American people.

I am a public servant at heart and am committed to improving the lives of Americans through policy.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Strengthen Bipartisanship: Bipartisanship is an essential component of the legislative process and opportunities are lost when members of Congress fail to listen and communicate effectively. I will work across the aisle to find common ground on the issues facing Hoosiers.Strengthen Democracy: Our democracy is in a fragile state and must be preserved with the Constitution as our guiding principle. The weakening of the separation of powers has caused lasting impacts to our government. I will work to ensure our checks and balances function properly and to bring stability to our institutions.Strengthen America: The lack of jobs, healthcare, housing, food security, and the overall lack of affordability has caused undue stress for many Hoosiers. People, young and old, are negatively affected when basic needs are not adequately met. I will work to bring down the cost of living and to improve the quality of life for all Americans.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

The Economy, Immigration, Affordable Healthcare, Women's Rights, Medicaid & Medicare, Social Security, Jobs, Affordable Housing, Food Security, Public Safety, National Defense, and Foreign Policy.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

Hancock County High School Democrats
