Dave Cantrell is a union electrician, husband, dad, and independent candidate running to represent District 3 in the West Virginia House of Delegates.
For years, Dave has fought for working class West Virginians as a rank-and file union member, President of the International Brotherhood of Electrical
Workers (IBEW) Local 141, and President of the Ohio Valley Trades and Labor Assembly.
As a Delegate in the WV State House, Dave will continue this fight—standing up for working class families in District 3 and across the state.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Dave commits to fighting for working class families. Dave's stood on picket lines supporting public school teachers, machinists, miners, and more, but his commitment to standing up for working class people doesn't stop there.
Dave believes the minimum wage must be raised to a livable wage. He believes in safe work places and fair benefits. In a state that has some of the highest utility costs across the country, he will fight for fair utility costs
and defend access to the benefits working class families pay into with their hard earned dollars.Dave is committed to protecting women and children. West Virginia has one of the highest rates of domestic abuse and child abuse in the entire country. In the state legislature, Dave will support bills that hold abusers
accountable and keep WV children safe. In addition, Dave will defend reproductive healthcare and rights, standing up for expanded access to care and keeping healthcare decisions between patients and doctors.Dave is committed to strengthening the local economy in District 3. First and foremost, Dave will support legislation to invest in childcare. When families have access to childcare, they can fully participate in the workforce
and childcare providers across the state can also keep their doors open. Improving local infrastructure will be a top priority, ensuring the district can attract businesses that will employ locally. Lastly, Dave will form trusted
partnerships and relationships with local business owners, truly hearing their struggles as business owners and learning from those who are experts on the issue.
