In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My name is Darrick Law. I'm a lifelong Minnesotan who made Duluth home in 2022. My professional background is in marketing and sales, but for ten years, I was also a makeup artist with a successful small business. My husband works in the skilled trades. Neither of us followed a traditional path to get to the careers we have today. I met my husband when we were young, and together we've built our life through hard work, persistence, and a willingness to take calculated risks.

I know firsthand that the image people present to the world often hides a much more complex reality. Having viewed my own share of instability and hardship through my own experience or from those close around me, I recognize the silent burdens many of our neighbors carry. This perspective allows me to understand what people across broad and diverse groups may be going through, and I want to ensure that those who feel unseen are heard and represented.

I chose to run because most of us don’t fall into the far-right or far-left camps. We’re somewhere in the middle. We have varied opinions and life experiences and want someone who is going to represent us by thoughtfully considering what is best for our communities and our state. We want to keep Minnesota great for all the generations to come. That’s the perspective I want to bring to the Senate.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

It's time to bridge the divide. We need to focus on bipartisan acts to keep Minnesota a great place to live and work. That means getting our budget into a good place, lowering taxes, and stopping all the fraud. We need consumer protections against AI. The scams are only going to get more sophisticated. Corporations will take more and more advantage of customers. We must be proactive in creating guardrails to protect Minnesotans before the damage is done.I combine hard data with creativity, empathy, and composure. I can evaluate complex issues critically without losing sight of the people they affect, and I remain calm and constructive even when conversations become difficult.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Consumer Protections. Businesses should be transparent about their products and accountable for their practices.

Energy and Environmental Protections. In a time when green energy, data centers, mining projects, and more are all being pushed on us, the legislature needs to know our grid can handle the transition, keep energy costs low, and ensure we're not ruining our land or water with any bills.
