In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m running for the Georgia Senate in District 37 because our community deserves a trustworthy Senator who is accessible and focused on solving real problems for Georgia families, not caught up in partisan politics. I am an Air Force wife, Navy mom, church elder, community volunteer, sustainability leader and communications consultant. My four children are currently in or have attended Cobb County public schools, two of which who have achieved the Zell Miller Scholarship. As a parent, Cobb homeowner and caregiver to an elderly parent, I bring real-life experience that keeps me grounded in what families in our district need.

I am deeply committed to creating community, building meaningful relationships, meeting the needs of others and leaving things better than I found them. Above all, I believe in collaboration for the common good. I am a servant leader at heart that aims to be accessible and transparent while creating a path for people in our community to be more civically engaged.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Affordability: We must address the rising costs of living; stop passing the costs of data centers onto families through higher utility bills; and keep private equity out of our housing market so Georgians can afford to own a home.Healthcare: Keep the government out of private decisions between patients and their doctors; fight rising premiums and healthcare costs; and expand access to ensure no one falls through the cracks by closing gaps in coverage.Voting Rights: Protect our right to vote; prevent mid-decade redistricting and unfair manipulation of electoral maps; and increase civic engagement, making sure every Georgian feels empowered to participate in their democracy.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

For many years I helped care for my father who was disabled from brain cancer. My family intimately understands the struggles of caring for a loved one who is no longer able to work and must rely on Medicaid for healthcare. My mother is a breast cancer survivor as well and before the ACA, she was uninsurable because of her preexisting condition. Worrying about healthcare access puts real stress on our families. In office, I will be committed to expanding Medicaid access so people like my parents can have adequate healthcare with dignity; I will fight to overturn the draconian and dangerous HB 481 that has stripped women of their healthcare autonomy; and I will work with experts to address Georgia’s maternal health crisis.
