In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m Danny Hamrick, a lifelong West Virginian, small business owner, and former member of the West Virginia House of Delegates. I had the honor of serving our community in the Legislature for ten years, where I worked to advance conservative principles, support economic growth, and fight for responsible government.

Outside of public service, I’m an entrepreneur and automotive locksmith, which keeps me connected to the day-to-day realities facing working families and local businesses. I understand what it means to work hard, and deal with the impact government decisions have on real people.

I’m running because I care deeply about the future of our district and our state. West Virginia needs experienced, commonsense leadership that will protect our values, grow our economy, and ensure government works for the people, not the other way around.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I bring proven conservative leadership and real legislative experience. Having served ten years in the West Virginia House of Delegates, I know how to get results, fight for our district, and stand up for our values. Voters can count on me to be a strong voice for limited government, fiscal responsibility, public safety, and the rights and freedoms of West Virginians. As a small business owner and entrepreneur, I understand firsthand the challenges facing working families, job creators, and local businesses. My campaign is focused on growing our economy, cutting unnecessary regulations, supporting small businesses, and making sure taxpayers get value for every dollar government spends. West Virginia needs policies that help people work, invest, and succeed.I want voters to remember that I am a true conservative and a lifelong Republican who will always put our district, our state, and our country first. I strongly support President Trump’s America First agenda and believe West Virginia deserves representation that puts West Virginia first as well — protecting our values, defending our freedoms, securing our communities, and fighting for policies that put hardworking citizens ahead of special interests and Washington insiders.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am especially passionate about policies that strengthen West Virginia families, grow our economy, and keep government accountable to the people. That includes economic development, support for small businesses, tax relief, and reducing unnecessary regulations that hold back job creation and entrepreneurship.

I am also deeply committed to education reform, ensuring students have access to quality schools while empowering local communities and parents with greater input in the educational process.

In addition, I care strongly about protecting constitutional freedoms, public safety, and promoting policies that put West Virginia first. I believe government should focus on core responsibilities, operate efficiently, and create opportunities f

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

The most important principles for an elected official are integrity, accountability, courage, and fidelity to the Constitution and the values of the people they represent. Voters deserve leaders who are honest, accessible, and willing to stand firm on their principles, even when it is unpopular.

An elected official should never forget that they work for the people, not for party leadership, lobbyists, or special interests. They must be willing to listen, communicate openly, and fight for the community’s priorities with conviction and consistency.

Leadership means keeping your word, putting constituents first, and always acting with honor and respect for the public trust.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

The core responsibilities of this office are to represent the people of the district, protect their constitutional rights and values, and ensure state government remains accountable to the taxpayers.

That includes carefully reviewing legislation, voting based on the interests of the district rather than political pressure, and advancing policies that promote economic growth, public safety, educational opportunity, and limited government.

A delegate also has a duty to be accessible and responsive to constituents, helping them navigate state government and ensuring their concerns are heard. Above all, this office is about being a strong, principled voice for the people and putting West Virginia first.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

The ideal relationship between the governor and the state legislature is one of mutual respect, cooperation, and constitutional balance. Both branches have distinct roles and responsibilities, and each should work together to advance policies that best serve the people of West Virginia.

The governor provides executive leadership and helps set a policy vision for the state, while the Legislature serves as the voice of the people through lawmaking, oversight, and control of appropriations. A strong working relationship is important to move meaningful legislation forward, but the Legislature must always remain independent and exercise its constitutional duty to review, debate, and improve policy proposals.

The best outcomes occur when both branches communicate openly, collaborate where possible, and remain focused on what is best for West Virginia rather than politics.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

I believe in compromise on methods, not on principles.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

Gov. Patrick Morrisey, and many citizens and small business owners across WV.
