In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I have lived within what is now MI House District 49 my entire life. (43 years old) From 2017 to 2023 I was the sitting Mayor in a non-partisan seat for the City of South Lyon, MI. I am married to a public school teacher (Meredith) and we have two kids Laney (4) and Henry (1). I am from a family of U.A.W. workers and husband of a Union teacher. I have also worked for the South Lyon Community Schools Technology Department for over 25 years.
I am a strong supporter of a woman's freedom of choice. I will be a very fierce advocate for our public schools system. I am also very much concerned about the threats from the federal government to take over state elections. I want to represent the strong democratic values that the people of Michigan are known for.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Public education is one of my most important priorities. As the husband of a public school teacher and a longtime school district employee, I understand the importance of strong schools. I will advocate for: Strong funding for Pre-K through 12 education, Career and technical training programs, Adult education opportunities., and resources teachers and students need to succeed. Investing in education means investing in Michigan’s future.Voting Rights - I strongly believe in protecting the right to vote, ensuring safe and fair elections, and defending state control over elections. The current attempts to undermine that have been one of the driving forces in why I know now is the right time to win this seat.Reproductive Rights - I believe healthcare decisions should stay between patients and their doctors - not politicians. In Lansing, I’ll continue fighting to protect access to healthcare, defend personal freedoms, and make sure everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
Health Care - Access to healthcare is vital to our state's and country's well being. I believe every Michigan family should have access to affordable, quality healthcare close to home. No one should have to choose between paying their bills and getting the care they need.
