Background

Dale Swanson was born in Mankato, Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1979 to 1993. Swanson earned a high school diploma from Mankato East High School, a bachelor's degree from the United States Air Force Academy in 1979, and a graduate degree from the University of Idaho in 1995. His career experience includes working as a lead engineer in global navigation satellite systems modernization. He has been affiliated with the Institute of Navigation.[1]

Served with the US Air Force in fighter jet operations from 1981 to 1993, including deployments to NATO nations for six years, and combat duties in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War. Married 45 years, with three children and four grandchildren. Dedicated community leader and mentor.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Patients and healthcare professionals must be allowed to make medical decisions based on their own best judgment without interference from arbitrary laws.We can and must move toward fossil fuel independence and remove the grip of those producers on our lives.We can enjoy guns for sport and protection while addressing the epidemic of gun violence

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Women's healthcare rights, tax sensibility, environment, and gun safety.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Honesty, integrity, and decency.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Service to the public is paramount.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I would like to leave a legacy of a principled human being who brought meaning to those who feel surrounded by cynicism and selfishness.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

I will always remember the the day that John F. Kennedy was assassinated when I was six years old. Despite being so young, the profound effect on so many adults around me left an indelible memory.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Health care rights, state revenues, environment, and gun safety.
