In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am Crystal Butcher, a Democratic candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates and an Executive Director dedicated to community progress. I have been married for 13 years, have 10 year old boy/girl twins, and entertain two Goldendoodles. My platform champions reproductive freedom, public education, and secular humanist values to support working families.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Total Personal Freedom: Championing a pro-choice, pro-First, and pro-Second Amendment platform that trusts you to make your own life decisions.Adult Accountability: Promoting a culture of individual responsibility where citizens are treated as adults who are free to act but must answer for their own mistakes, eliminating the "good old boy" club.Secular Public Education: Defending the separation of church and state by ensuring public schools focus on academics rather than religious instruction or Bible schools.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I will focus heavily on social justice, government transparency, and education reform, particularly within the context of West Virginia. I advocate for reproductive freedom, LGBTQIA+ rights, cannabis legalization, and increased funding for public schools over charter systems. Additionally, I prioritize accountability in government, civil rights, and addressing the opioid epidemic through economic and safety initiatives.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

I do not seek endorsements as I view them as a popularity contests. I'm here to take down the good old boys starting at a local level. I have had a few grassroots donations, an in-kind donation from my husband, and my twins help put up signs.
