In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m a career Oklahoma public school educator. I’ve served as a teacher, coach, counselor, principal and district superintendent.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

We must put into policy a long term plan to move Oklahoma forward. The plan must emphasize academic outcomes, especially in the area of literacy and it must include a long term investment. We must return to basic delivery of foundational education in the primary grades. We need to focus on a return to the five components of reading; phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. In order to do that, Oklahoma must limit the use of screen time and return to teaching children how to write and read in cursive. We must be urgent and committed to a long term strategy to repair education in our state.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
