Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
As a boy growing up in Mooresville, Indiana, Craig Haggard never dreamed of running for office. Instead, he dreamed of being a fighter pilot. After graduating from Mooresville High School, he set out to make that dream a reality.
Haggard finished first in his class in primary flight training and was selected to fly the AV8B Harrier. In 1999, Craig deployed as part of Operation Allied Force and flew combat missions in Kosovo and Serbia while stationed aboard the USS Kearsarge in the Adriatic Sea.
Craig retired from the military as a Lieutenant Colonel in 2013 and returned home to Mooresville as a private citizen where he became a small business owner and later a commercial real estate broker.
Craig had the opportunity to travel our nation and the world while serving our country. He and his wife, Brooke, have four children. In 2022, Craig wanted to do more to ensure his children and future grandchildren could pursue their dreams, just as he did. Indiana called him home and there is no other place he’d rather be. He is currently the Indiana State Representative for district 57 and believes his diverse background and experiences have prepared him to continue to serve.
Now, with threats from the Chinese Communist Party, terror groups like Hamas, and mounting national debt, Craig wants to bring his experience as a veteran and a small business owner to Washington. Craig is pro-life, maintains an A+ rating from the NRA and is committed to being an advocate for the hard-working
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Craig is a constitutional Republican. He has spent his career defending this country and this constitution. He will not be a Congressman who just waves his hands to get on tv or social media viral, he wants to do what he has to do to get results at levels and make sure he is an accountable Republican. Craig has worked tirelessly in his years in the statehouse to author and produce conservative legislation that works to represent his constituents. He is also not afraid to break ranks to vote against legislation that works to increase taxes or being anti-conservative.Holding me accountable will be one of my top goals. I want to be open and reachable by my constituents. I plan on moving my office to a more accessible location and having weekly meetings with my team about constituent concerns.I want to continue to protect the rights of Gun Owners and ensure the 2nd Amendment is supported through legislation. I joined the NRA because I understood the importance it was to millions of gun owners and to ensure proper gun ownership is protected. When I was elected to the NRA Board of Directors, I made it my goal to reform and focus the NRA on protecting gun owners. We put in new leadership, new methods, and put the emphasis on training gun owners, gun safety, and making sure the government does not encroach on the rights of gun owners.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Protection of American principles such as the 2nd Amendment, Constitutional freedoms, protection from government overreach, protection from foreign influence including anti-American adversaries. I will also emphasize limited spending and debt reduction. I also want to look out for our veterans and ensure we serve them like they served us!

Campaign websiteHaggard's campaign website stated the following:WHERE CRAIG STANDS
SECOND AMENDMENT
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." - Our Founding Fathers. Seems clear enough to me.
But do you know what the Indiana Constitution says about our defense?
"Article 1. Section 32. The people shall have a right to bear arms, for the defense of themselves and the State."
Enough said.
RIGHT TO LIFE
I am a Christian and a father. I served in the military because I believe we are called upon to defend those who cannot defend themselves. Who could possibly be in more need of defense?
VETERAN CARE
Taking care of my brothers and sisters that serve or have served our country is near and dear to my heart. Promoting programs designed to educate, train, employ, and support our military through all stages of their careers is not only good for the veteran and their family, it is good for our nation
FARMERS
I grew up in rural Indiana and know the importance of our farms and farm families. Food is a National Security Asset. I believe in doing everything possible to ensure the success and stability of our farms and ensure our precious farm land is never owned by a hostile foreign government.
BORDER SECURITY
The illicit drug trade and human trafficking crisis at our southern border affects our entire nation, including Indiana. We must work with law enforcement and industries drawn into this national crisis. Fentanyl and the trafficking of humans has unfortunately found its way into our nation. This is NOT acceptable. We deserve better.
THE CCP
The Chinese Communist Party -- The CCP -- has infiltrated every aspect of our lives. They are an active adversary of the United States and we have the capability at the State level of limiting ANY if not ALL ownership of real property in the great state of Indiana. I plan on introducing a bill in the next session to accomplish this.— Craig Haggard's campaign website (January 28, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source. Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I believe families should feel safe in the State they live. This means supporting the police, mental health programs and prosecuting habitual criminals.I believe in small government, deregulation and promoting small business growth by taking down unnecessary barriers.I believe our kids need to return to the basics of education. School should give our kids the foundation they need to advance academically and stay out of the social and sexual arenas reserved for the parents of the children.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Public safety is the biggest area of concern for me. There are no one solution answers to the issues we face today. The problems we face as Hoosiers involve mental health, education, family values and support for law enforcement to name a few. The most important role of the government is to protect its citizens. As a Marine I spent a large part of my life protecting those that could not protect themselves. It is a shame there is such a rise in crime in not only the cities but in parts of Indiana mostly free from violence for most of Indiana's existence.
