In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am running to represent conservative values - the value of limited government and individual liberty. am a wife and mother to 3 kids in rural Douglas County. My husband and I are foster/adoptive parents to two of our children. Before we made the decision that I stay at home with our kids, I worked in supply chain and sales operations with a background in logistics. I have my undergraduate degree in Political Science from Truman State University and my M.S. in Global Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, AZ. My husband and I are members of Redemption Bible Church in Baldwin City and I’ve served on the Baldwin City Recreation Commission board.

I grew up as an “el Rushbo” baby, listening to Rush Limbaugh daily with my mom on AM radio. In college, I was an active member of the College Republicans at Truman State and served as its President my junior year. I also interned in the Missouri Senate and have volunteered and worked on many campaigns.

I am running because I’ve seen the seismic changes in our culture. The foundational assumptions I was raised with have been swept away; the college-to-career pipeline is eroded and barriers to homeownership are high. I am working to make Kansas a destination for this next generation, where taxes aren’t an impediment to businesses, families and seniors; our children can thrive in safety and stability; and our culture values life.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Property Tax relief is a huge need for Kansas. We can look at caps and empowering taxpayers to have a say in local government spending, but we also need to grow our state economy and its population base to expand the tax base. We are facing stagnation in Kansas.Part of examining the size and scope of government is rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse. I served as a member of the Welfare Reform Committee and I believe there are many ways for us to reduce government spending if we had better understanding of where our tax dollars are being spent.Deregulation is hugely important to me. Getting government out of the way of the private market is one of the easiest and most cost-effective ways for government to aid in growing economies. We passed many bills to de-regulate or expand the scope of practice for many practices. We also passed legislation to get the government out of additional occupational licensing this year.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am most passionate about foster care reform in the state.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

KSRA, KFL, KABC
