In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Connor Murray, and I am running for Massachusetts State Representative in the 18th Essex District because I believe public service is about showing up, listening, and delivering results for the people you represent. Throughout my campaign, I have made it a priority to meet residents where they are by holding regular office hours, volunteering with local organizations, touring businesses, attending community events, and knocking on doors across the district. These conversations have shaped my campaign and reinforced my commitment to being an accessible, transparent, and responsive representative.
The communities of Andover, North Andover, Tewksbury, and Boxford deserve a leader who understands the challenges families face every day. From the rising cost of housing and health care to strengthening our public schools, protecting our environment, and supporting local businesses, I am focused on practical solutions that improve quality of life and create opportunity for everyone.
I believe government works best when it is accountable to the people. If elected, I will continue to communicate openly with constituents and ensure every resident has a voice in the legislative process. My campaign is built on the belief that leadership means listening first, working collaboratively, and putting people before politics. I am running to build a more affordable, equitable, and sustainable Massachusetts where every family has the opportunity to thrive.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
The people of the 18th Essex District need a representative who is going to be there for them on their average days as well as their darkest nights, and that requires a commitment to accessibility. I believe public service begins with listening, which is why I have made it a priority to meet directly with residents, small business owners, educators, and community leaders consistently (regardless of political differences). If elected, I will continue to be present and engaged both in my district and on Beacon Hill, ensuring every constituent knows they have a state representative who will hear them out and keep fighting for their needs every single day.Massachusetts is becoming increasingly unaffordable, and too many families are struggling to keep up with the rising costs of housing, child care, groceries, utilities, and health care. I will fight for practical solutions that lower costs, expand access to affordable housing, strengthen public education, support working families, protect workers’ rights, and ensure everyone has access to quality health care. My support for every policy I consider is guided by one principal question: Will it improve the lives of the people I represent? We can build a stronger future by investing in our communities while protecting the values that make Massachusetts a leader. That means supporting clean energy and environmental protection, defending civil rights, strengthening our democratic institutions, and fostering an economy that creates opportunity for everyone. I believe leadership is about bringing people together, solving problems collaboratively, and making decisions with integrity, compassion, and a coherent vision for the future.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
As a longtime environmental policy advocate, I am especially committed to advancing clean energy and environmental sustainability. I am also seriously focused on affordability issues, such as the rising costs of housing, health care, and child care, just to name a few. Furthermore, it is essential that we pass transparency measures in the legislature, because residents need to know their elected officials are prioritizing the public good over their own self-interest. Above all, my goal for Massachusetts is to make our state government more responsive and efficient and improve the quality of life of everyone in the Commonwealth.
