In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm Colton Stidam. I'm 29 years old, I work in the public school systems doing IT work, and I come from union roots. I believe that the government exists to do more than the bare minimum, and that it has a responsibility to ensure that people are taken care of. The current state of the government in Ohio has favored large businesses and their lobbyists while neglecting the average person.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Funding public schools. The foundation of our nation, of our state, and our communities will always be our children. Our great public schools help grow our kids to their fullest potential to become leaders, innovators, and people who will move us towards the future. The critical lack of funding hurts our children's growth and their opportunities. Their classrooms are overcrowded, their teachers are told to do more with less, and Ohio is falling behind the curveAffordability. Ohio isn't doing enough. Families are losing their generational homes due to insane property taxes, on the flip side of the coin, people cannot afford their rent. We need to make sure that those who are on fixed or low incomes aren't priced out of their homes due to property taxes and we need to build, and develop affordable housing.Union support. Unions are rocks in our communities. They produce our goods, take care of our infrastructure, and so much more. We cannot allow the statehouse to continuously propose bills that would strip away their collective bargaining rights, and their ability to negotiate their compensation packages.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I'm most passionate about public policies which impact our day to day lives. I'm tired of performative politics and passing bills which only favor special interests groups and large corporations.
