In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I’m a married mother of four, a teacher with nearly 28 years’ experience in the classroom, a coal miner’s daughter and granddaughter. I’m a 27-year union member who believes that working families are the backbone of our state. I also believe that our government ought to work for the people of this state.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Real problems require real solutions. For far too long, our legislature has been fixated on culture war issues instead of on those kitchen table issues that plague all West Virginians. It’s time to focus on what matters.Children are West Virginia’s most valuable asset. We should be ensuring that our children have a first-class public education, that our working families have affordable, reliable childcare, that our foster care system is safe and effective, and that we are protecting our children from anyone who seeks to harm them.West Virginians deserve to have clean water to drink. As your senator, I will fight for policy that ensures our water systems are safe.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I’m passionate about education and public health.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
Education West Virginia and WV AFL-CIO. I am waiting to hear back from more organizations.
