Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I believe in justice, freedom, and opportunity for all. I am a husband, father and son and believe in strong Kansas, midwest, common sense family values. I'm a 31 year veteran, began as a Private in the Army and retired as a Colonel in the Air Force. I'm proud to call myself a Kansan and multi-generational midwesterner.
Chris is running for Congress to serve Kansans the same way he served his country — with strong leadership grounded with integrity, fairness, and respect for everyone.
As the father of a police officer, Chris knows that safe communities start with trust. Good officers need to be supported and encouraged while making sure that no one is above the law, including those enforcing it.
Guided by fairness and common sense, Chris is listening, ready to lead, and support the needs of all Kansans — no matter their background or political beliefs.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Making life in Kansas more affordable.
Kansans work hard, but Washington isn’t working for them.
Prices keep going up — at the store, the gas pump, and the doctor’s office. Families are paying more but not earning more.
Too many families are struggling to keep up as prices rise and paychecks stay the same. Chris Carmichael believes no one should have to choose between groceries, gas, or medicine.
He’ll work to lower costs, bring good jobs to Kansas, and make sure families can afford the things they need — food, gas, and medicine. – Basics shouldn’t break the bank.Protecting healthcare and Social Security.
No one should have to skip the doctor because it costs too much.
Chris will work to lower drug prices, keep local hospitals open, and make sure every Kansan can get care when they need it. – Basics shouldn’t break the bank.
You worked hard and paid into Social Security — you deserve it. Chris Carmichael will fight to protect your benefits, so your retirement is secure and your hard-earned money stays in your pocket.Supporting veterans and preserving the family farm.
After more than 31 years in uniform, Chris knows the sacrifices those in uniform make for our country — and in return, their country owes them a debt of care and respect. He’ll work to ensure veterans can count on the benefits they’ve earned.
It’s getting harder for family farms to stay in business. High prices for equipment and supplies make it easier for big corporate farms to thrive while smaller farms struggle. Crop prices haven’t kept up with the cost of living for decades.
Chris will fight for family farmers - not big corporations - by working to level the playing field and give local farms a fair chance to succeed.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Defending our freedom and protecting our constitution
Chris swore an oath to the Constitution to protect it against all enemies foreign and domestic. He has spent his life defending freedom — first in uniform, now at home in Kansas. He believes our constitutional rights must be protected from being chipped away by politics and partisanship. In Congress, Chris will stand up for the rule of law, protect free speech, and ensure the government works for the people — not the other way around.

Campaign websiteCarmichael's campaign website stated the following:MAKING LIFE IN KANSAS MORE AFFORDABLEKansans work hard, but Washington isn’t working for them.Prices keep going up — at the store, the gas pump, and the doctor’s office. Families are paying more but not earning more.Chris Carmichael believes the basics shouldn’t break the bank. Here’s how he’ll lower costs:Roll back tariffs that drive up the cost of goods and materialsIncrease competition and take on monopolies that keep prices highStrengthen supply chains so Kansas businesses can grow and hire locallyChris will focus on practical solutions that bring prices down and put more money back in your pocket.HEALTHCARE FOR EVERY KANSANHealthcare is not a luxury it’s a basic need.Right now, families are paying high premiums and high deductibles — and still struggling to get care.Chris believes health care should put patients first — not profits.Chris believes every Kansan should be able to see a doctor, afford their medicine, and get care when they need it.Chris will bring costs down by:Letting Medicare negotiate directly with drug companiesTaking on monopolies and increasing competition to lower pricesReforming pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and requiring real price transparencyProtecting and strengthening rural hospitals so care stays close to homeHealthcare should be affordable, simple, and available when you need it. I will fight for a universal healthcare system.DEFENDING REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTSEvery American has the right to choose when to start a family. The ongoing attacks on women's reproductive rights must come to an end. Kansas voters have spoken, and the Kansas Supreme Court has spoken: Bodily autonomy is a Kansas constitutional right. This is a right that should be enjoyed by all Americans.Decisions about reproductive care, including abortion care, should be between individuals, their families, and their doctors. Congress should keep their hands off women's bodies!KEEPING DATA CENTERS IN CHECKArtificial intelligence is changing how we work and how our economy runs. It can create opportunity — but without rules, it can replace jobs, raise energy costs, strain our power grid, use too much water, and put corporate profits ahead of Kansas families.Chris believes we should lead in new technology, but not at the expense of Kansas workers, ratepayers, farmers, or natural resources.Chris will:Set clear, common-sense rules on AI to protect jobs, privacy, and consumersHold big tech companies accountable so they don’t replace workers just to boost profitsInvest in job training so Kansas workers can succeed in a changing economyOppose data center projects that drain Kansas water, overload our power grid, raise utility bills, or demand unfair tax breaksRequire strong energy and water-use standards for AI and data centers before they receive public supportSupport American-made clean energy that creates Kansas jobs without driving up costs or pollutionProtect personal data so Kansans’ private information is not misusedTechnology should work for people, strengthen our economy, and protect the land we pass on to the next generation.STAND WITH LGBTQ+ AMERICANSA personal message from Chris Carmichael:“During my 31 years in the military, I was proud to serve side-by-side with LGBTQ troops every day. They serve our nation with dignity and honor. Their professionalism, courage, and patriotism are beyond question.“I thought ‘Don't Ask Don't Tell’ was ridiculous the day in 1993 when it passed; it was a great day for America when Obama in 2011 signed the repeal. Under Trump, though, LGBTQ soldiers, sailors, and airmen are once again being forced into the closet.“Worse, President Trump and his ally in Congress, Ron Estes, are forcing transgender troops out of the armed forces, destroying careers, damaging readiness, and breaking Trump's promise to let transgender Americans continue to serve with honor.“As your congressman, I will fight for your rights. Every American should have the honor and privilege to volunteer to serve their country. Patriotism is for all of us.”HOUSING YOU CAN AFFORDBuying a home is getting out of reach for too many Kansas families. The problem isn’t just demand — it’s the rising cost to build and a lack of affordable homes.Chris will help bring housing costs down by:Rolling back tariffs that increase the cost of building materialsMaking it easier to build affordable homes — not just high-end housingSupporting tax relief that helps families stay in their homesPushing back on practices that drive up prices and limit access to homeownershipEveryone deserves a fair shot at owning a home.PROTECTING SOCIAL SECURITYYou worked hard and paid into Social Security. You earned it.Chris Carmichael will protect Social Security for today’s seniors and future retirees. He will oppose raising the retirement age to 70, oppose cuts, and oppose privatizing Social Security by tying it to the stock market.Chris will fight to:Keep Social Security strong and fully fundedStop Congress from using Social Security money for other spendingMake wealthy earners pay their fair share into the systemProtect cost-of-living increases so benefits keep up with inflationMake sure seniors can retire with dignity, stability, and peace of mindSocial Security is not welfare. It is a promise workers paid for — and Chris will keep that promise.SUPPORTING OUR VETERANSAfter more than 30 years in uniform, Chris knows what service means.Too many veterans still struggle to access the care and benefits they’ve earned.Chris will:Protect VA funding and improve access to care across KansasCut red tape so veterans can get help fasterExpand access to mental health services and job trainingNo veteran should be left behind.DEFENDING OUR FREEDOM, PROTECTING OUR CONSTITUTIONChris Carmichael has spent his life defending freedom. He believes our rights belong to the people. In Congress, Chris will:Protect free speech and constitutional rightsKeep government accountable and transparentRespect the rule of law and individual freedomsGovernment should work for the people — not the other way around.PRESERVING THE FAMILY FARMFamily farms are the backbone of Kansas — but they’re under pressure.Costs for equipment, fuel, and fertilizer keep rising, while crop prices struggle to keep up.Right now, global instability is making things worse. The war involving Iran has disrupted key supply routes for fertilizer, driving prices up and putting even more strain on farmers. At the same time, tariffs and trade policies have raised the cost of equipment and limited access to markets.Chris will fight for family farmers by:Rolling back tariffs that raise the cost of equipment and inputsStrengthening supply chains so farmers aren’t hit by global disruptionsSupporting fair markets and taking on monopolies that squeeze farmersExpanding access to markets so Kansas farmers can compete and growKansas farmers deserve a fair shot — not a system stacked against them.— Chris Carmichael's campaign website (July 29, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source.
