Casey Crabtree (Republican Party) is a member of the South Dakota State Senate, representing District 8. He assumed office on June 19, 2020. His current term ends on January 12, 2027.

Senate Republicans elected Crabtree state Senate majority leader on November 11, 2022, effective January 10, 2023.[1][2] Crabtree also served as majority whip during the 2021-2022 legislative session.[3] He served in this capacity until January 15, 2025.[4]
Crabtree was born in Arlington, South Dakota. He received a bachelor's degree from Northern State University in 2005. Crabtree's professional experience included working in business development and management. As of October 2024, Crabtree was the director of economic development for Heartland Energy in Madison, South Dakota.[5][6]
Governor Kristi Noem (R) appointed Crabtree to the South Dakota State Senate on June 19, 2020, to replace Jordan Youngberg (R) following his resignation.[7] Crabtree won election later that year, and ran uncontested in every general election from 2020 to 2024. He served as chair of the Senate Commerce and Energy Committee during the 2021-2022 legislative session and as chair of the Senate State Affairs Committee during the 2023-2024 legislative session.
After being elected Senate majority leader, Crabtree said, "We look forward to working with the House and the Governor to advance an agenda of economic freedom, small government and individual responsibility."[2] Crabtree said he was proud of the legislation the Senate passed during his first two years as majority leader. He listed "passing South Dakota’s largest tax cut, keeping tuition affordable for SD students at our universities and tech schools and helping cybersecurity & quantum computing become an economic engine not just for the community of Madison but the whole state" as notable legislative accomplishments.[5]
