In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I was born and raised in Sikeston. I graduated from Sikeston High School in 2006, where I was a member of various school organizations including Red Peppers, art club, and FBLA. After graduation, I attended Three Rivers community college. However, I was drawn to a life in public service. Since then, I have served the community in various roles, most notably 5 years as a 911 emergency dispatcher.

I enjoy life’s simple pleasures like camping, swimming, and learning the latest lingo from my friend’s kids. I like to watch old TV shows with my brother, listen to music, read romance and fantasy novels, and spend time with my parents. But my favorite pastime is lounging on my best friend’s couch while we send TikTok videos to each other.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

We need to improve our state’s education from funding schools to increasing teacher pay. When teachers struggle, so do students. Public education funding should never come from "maybe money" like cigarette and lottery sales. Funding should be guaranteed money from the state's general revenue. We shouldn’t eliminate the income tax and raise sales tax. No! We should tax the wealthy. If they paid their fair share of taxes, then we could increase the education budget to help the schools struggling so they can offer a fair wage to teachers. We could improve our highways more often. We could not only keep but also expand Medicaid to make sure no child goes without health coverage.A person's healthcare rights should not vary state to state, yet they do. I will ensure that all pregnant people, and those capable of becoming pregnant, are guaranteed reproductive rights from birth control to abortion. The government is not a medical professional, nor is it comprised solely of medical professionals. Government should not dictate what citizens and their medical providers can and/or cannot choose as a treatment plan.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

While they're all important, I am most passionate about public education, healthcare rights, and fair taxes.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

Marsha P. Johnson because she fought for her rights as well as those around her. She was a voice for those who were too afraid to speak.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

Indivisible SEMO

What was the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember?
