In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am an ordinary citizen running for an extraordinary office to serve my community. Service to the people in my community and partnership with local leaders will be my primary goals as I represent District 122 in the GA House of Representatives. I care about the future of Athens-Clarke County deeply and want to ensure that my House district has a strong, positive voice that represents the entire district.

As the House Representative for District 122, I will be available, visible, and active throughout all aspects of our community. I will gladly attend community events, listen to the concerns of voters, and communicate constantly with local leaders. I will continue to be an ordinary person that is devoted to my family, church, friends, hobbies, and activities. Yet, I will devote the time needed to improve the greatness of our community.

Visibility and availability are currently lacking in this role. I will change those by answering phone calls, responding to emails, attending community events, and purposefully engaging in conversations with community members. I will respond to questions honestly, follow-up with all request promises, and be the House Representative that truly serves our community.

I am an outstanding communicator. I listen better than I speak but I sure talk alot! I know the areas of Athens-Clarke County that need attention, know the strengths of our county, and will work tirelessly to remediate weaknesses. Your vote, support, and prayers are important.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

District 122 is a great community but we can be even greater. All citizens will be encouraged to help me bring State resources to local projects and improvement efforts. And, all citizens will be encouraged to chat with me about personal issues/situations that need to be addressed. Most importantly, local leaders (such as the Mayor, Commissioners, etc) will have an advocate that is vastly interested in uniting State & local resources for community improvement efforts. I will pull my load of the work to improve our Classic City. Our State is burdened with ineffective resources that need addressing and that impact District 122. State transportation project deadlines & action plans need to be reviewed (specifically, work on the Loop has been ongoing with limited progress for far too long!) and we need better actions that will include State resources to improve safety initiatives throughout our district. Athens-Clarke County needs more police officers on the streets, better jail facilities & remediation programs, and we are in dire need of review of State funding for increased economic development in our community.Athens-Clarke County voters have not had access to the State Representative for our district for 12 years. Most voters do not even know the name of this person which means there has been nominal communication between voters and actions of their House Representatives. I will change that and will communicate frequently with voters of both parties so that we can unite individual and group concerns with a voice in our State government. I am outgoing and never shy away from conversations and am a "go-getter" when changes are needed.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate that State resources have not been optimally brought into our District. This must change. I will seek absent resources that are available but have never been tapped into that will help District 122. Additionally, I am burdened that our community has not known our House Representative for the past decade. Gracious, this is shameful & will be changed immediately upon my election into this office.

Government leaders, such as those in the State House of Representatives, should be on frequent caller list of local leaders and on the daily email list of every business, education, & nonprofit leader throughout the District. I will ensure those contacts are facilitated and pursued.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

Campaign disclosures are tricky. I will keep these private. But all are welcome.
