In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Carl Kinsky. I am 65 years old and am a retired attorney. I served as the elected prosecutor in Ste. Genevieve County for 20 years. I am currently on the Ste. Genevieve County Health Board and have so served for more than a decade. I am also on the Ste Genevieve City Planning and Zoning Board.
I was married to Holly Gayle Simons for 27 years before her passing. I am now married to Susie Johnson. I have no children. My mother, Constance McAvoy, is in an assisted living facility nearby.
I have also was the District Public Defender for the area. I was awarded the Contract Public Defender of the Year Award in 2025 by the Missouri Public Defender System.
I largely retired from the practice of law in January of this year. I did not intend my first year of retirement to include running for office, but feel it is my duty to do so and pledge to be the best state representative I can possibly be.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I am running for state representative because we need effective representation. The State of Missouri is facing a fiscal disaster in next few years with projected deficits in the billions of dollars. We will need to tighten our belts and look at taxes. We need a representative who will be open with the voters about tough choices. We need a representative who understands that compromise is not always a sign of weakness, that it is often the way forward. We need a representative who understands that just voting "no" is not enough.I was the elected prosecuting attorney in Ste. Genevieve County for 20 years. I know how to read statutes, how to spot the traps and loopholes. The special interests with money are driving the current leadership in Jeff City. We need a state representative who puts constituents first. I am 65 years old and retired and couldn't care less about the special interests.
Over the years, I have learned the importance of listening. I will listen to all the people in 145th District, not just those I agree with. I have learned there is a time to negotiate and a time to fight, and I believe I have learned how to do both.If I am fortunate enough to be elected state representative, I will work my tail off for the people of Perry and Ste. Genevieve counties. I have the time, the energy, and the will, and would be honored to given the chance.
