Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Carissa would like to see broadened, affordable access to healthcare for all Idaho citizens, regardless of gender, age and/or disability. Everyone deserves access to the same quality of healthcare.Carissa believes that the state needs to prioritize education by adequately funding facilities, paying adequate wages to retain educators and support staff and working with the Idaho Education Association (Idaho State Teacher Union) to ensure equal education opportunities across the state. The state needs to repeal the damaging Idaho Parental Choice Tax Credit (private school voucher) and invest that money within the public education system. Idaho schools should be properly funded from the state level so that local government does not need to rely on the passing of levies for Idaho schools to be functional.Carissa believes that work needs to be done to maintain and increase the affordability of essential services in our state. She would love to see more affordable housing programs, a raise to the minimum wage, and implementation of affordable and efficient public transit. Idaho can reduce the tax burden of the average Idahoan through state funding of education, allowing for lower local property taxes and a with the implementation of a progressive tax rate system.
