In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am an independent candidate for the United States Senate running to bring practical leadership, accountability, and real-world problem solving back to government. I believe New Mexicans deserve representation focused on results instead of political theater.

My campaign is centered on strengthening public safety, expanding economic opportunity, addressing housing affordability, improving access to mental health resources, supporting small businesses, and protecting the rights and dignity of every New Mexican. I believe government works best when leaders are willing to listen, collaborate, and put people ahead of party politics.

As someone deeply involved in business, housing advocacy, and community engagement, I understand the everyday challenges families face — rising costs, economic uncertainty, crime, homelessness, and lack of trust in institutions. I’m running to help restore confidence in leadership by focusing on transparency, accountability, and common-sense solutions that benefit working people.

This campaign is about building safer communities, stronger local economies, and a government that is responsive, efficient, and focused on outcomes instead of division.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

My campaign is focused on independent leadership and bringing practical, bipartisan solutions to the issues impacting New Mexico families every day.

My priorities include:

Expanding affordable housing opportunities

Supporting mental health and addiction recovery programs

Strengthening public safety and community partnerships

Growing small businesses and workforce opportunities

Improving government transparency and accountability

Protecting constitutional rights and civil liberties

Investing in infrastructure and economic developmentI believe voters are tired of partisan gridlock and political extremism. New Mexico deserves leadership that is willing to work across ideological lines to deliver measurable results. As an independent candidate, I am committed to representing people — not political parties, special interests, or corporate insiders. My focus is on restoring trust, promoting opportunity, and helping build a safer, stronger, and more prosperous future for every New Mexican.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

1. Housing: Build More, House Everyone

New Mexico is in the midst of a housing crisis. Rents are soaring, shelters are overflowing, and hardworking families are being pushed out of their communities. Cameron Chick has a plan—not just to talk about affordable housing, but to build it.

Expand Low-Income Housing Incentives: Work with local governments and private developers to create tax incentives and fast-track permitting for affordable and workforce housing projects.

Repurpose Vacant Properties: Identify underutilized public and private buildings to convert into transitional and permanent supportive housing—especially for veterans, seniors, and disabled individuals.

Support Tiny Home Communities: Promote sustainable,

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am first and foremost a Husband to my wife Cippy Chick and soon to be father to our unborn twin children who will be coming into the world in just a month from now. I have strong deep rooted values as well as a strong sense of moral values. I believe that every life should be cherished and that no child should ever be denied the chance to have a life therefore I am Pro-Life and completely against abortion. I support our beautiful, well thought out, and well written United States Constitution. I stand behind our Law Enforcement Officers and our Military and will always stand by them and be for them not against them. It is well past due to begin restoring Law & Order to our Nation. We need more leaders in our Government Offices not followers and I believe as of now we have too many followers in our nations Government Offices. I am a natural born Leader who comes from a Strong Military Family and a well disciplined Background. Since High School I have gained much knowledge of Public Policy and The Political aspect of our nation and have leveraged that knowledge to begin to build my own beliefs, thoughts, and ideals to build a strong political foundation to run for office. I do not believe in giving up and I am someone who believes that "American Dream" still exists in the hearts of all Americans. I need to be clear that I am also Pro 2nd Amendment and will not budge on being pro-life and pro-2nd amendment nor being pro-constitution. I am for Americans and stand by our nation.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

There were many people in my life that have been influential. However I cannot choose just one person there are two people I look up to and always will and try my best to follow the example they set for me when I was a child. These two individuals would be My Grandfather Ronald Whatley, Sr. and My Father Stacey Chick. I chose these two and looked up to them the most for two reasons each. My Father Stacey Chick is because he taught me by showing me that no matter if a child or person is your blood relative that you still treat them as your own when you take on the responsibility as their parent. Stacey Chick is not my biological father but he is still my father to this day because he took me in as his own and never treated me any different than his biological children and was always there when I needed him. The Second reason I chose Stacey Chick is because he taught me to always stand up for what I believe in and what is right no matter what and who stands against me. My Grandfather Ronald Whatley Sr. taught me the value of a dollar and a hard days work and in doing so he also taught me to work hard for everything I want and need in life and that everything I want in life could be taken in a matter of seconds if I took it for granted. The second reason for choosing Ronald Whatley Sr. is he taught me the value of family and strength in family this is important to me because you only get one family and they are the only people willing to withstand the gates of hell with you and all you really have that you can count on at the end of the day.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The first historical event that has happened in my lifetime was the 9/11 terrorist attack. I was 7 years old and sitting in a classroom when my teacher gets a phone call to turn on the news in the classroom because it was something that we all needed to see. I just remember feeling sad and then angry in matter of seconds because it felt like the world was ending to me.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My very First job was as a work study Volunteer Administrative Assistant At The Belen Consolidated Schools Main Office. I made many professional connections that will last a lifetime and left behind a legacy that true work ethic ethic still exists in the younger generation. I touched many lives while I was there and made many of my co-workers lives a lot easier as I picked up the work that they really didn't have enough time to complete on their own so I considered myself an asset to the The Office. I started in 2010 and ended in 2013.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

I believe strongly that the two biggest challenges will be stabilizing our economy after the mess that the COVID-19 Pandemic has caused including the massive lockdowns and closings of many businesses. The other issue I foresee is weeding out all the corrupt and power hungry tyrants in our Government because ultimately this will lead to the downfall of our nation if we don't get it done!

What are your thoughts on term limits?

I believe that every office should have a term limit because in the end the biggest problem this nation has in politics is the average career politician. Career Politicians are a huge problem because then we stick to the values of re-electing someone who is either power hungry or just plain corrupt. To combat and put an end to corruption we must first implement term limits.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Yes I believe that we should compromise more in policymaking it creates a government that functions well and flows properly

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a Conservative person however I am someone who listens to the people and therefore I'm an Independent. I am pro-life, Pro-2A, and I am someone who will protect and uphold the Constitution. I want to restore a Government that Governs For The People, By The People, and Of The People. We must make those who are guilty of high crimes against our country pay the price and make them answer to it.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Uphold The United States ConstitutionRestore A People's GovernmentEnd Abortion

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about upholding the 2nd Amendment and protecting that right. I am also very passionate about ending abortion.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I look up to My Mom who has played the roles of both mom and dad my entire childhood. She's the Strongest Woman I know and has given me 99% of my core beliefs and values. I have Strong Leadership Traits & Strong Values of Telling it Like it is. I want to follow in my mom's footsteps and become a Leader.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The First Historical Event That Happened In My Lifetime was when the Twin Towers went down. I was 7 years old when it happened.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My First Job was working for the Belen Consolidated Schools as an Administrative Assistant. I held it from 2010-2013 so about three years. I loved this job and was sad to leave but, I had to leave to go to College Full Time

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

I possess exceptional leadership skills that could possibly end this governing body divide. I have been homeless before and know the everyday struggles and where we could be doing better. I have also been a victim of violent & heinous crimes and possess a unique opinion on how we could get a better handle on crime.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

I believe that life experience is enough. If we took more people who have experienced life on the streets or possessed experience like I do growing up in poverty, being a victim Police corruption and brutality, being formerly homeless and knowing the everyday struggles.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

The biggest Challenge is the extreme divide we have in this Nation. We have the Progressive Movement that is taking things to the extreme and spreading Mass Panic, Mayhem, and Chaos. Then you have the Republican Party that is refusing to pass some great pieces of legislation due to them not wanting to work with Democratic Party Leadership. We must end this divide in this Nation or we will inevitably fall.

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

The judicial committee would be something I'd love to be a part of and fix our broken Justice System one law at a time.

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

I believe that Representatives should be given 4 years so that people can get a better read on how their current Representative is performing in representing them.

What are your thoughts on term limits?

I'm all for term limits. I believe that if we don't implement term limits we are setting up our Nation to become more corrupt and making way for tyrant like action to happen.

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

I believe, that two years is simply not enough of a time span to accomplish anything. I think we should consider extending the term length to 4 years so that more gets accomplished and, voters can be more informed on whether or not they are being Represented properly in The House of Representatives.
