Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I’m running for Congress to fight for working families, protect human rights, and build a stronger future for Georgia's 9th District.
My parents were public school teachers who taught me the value of investing in my community. Through them, I saw how federal funding could support people who make that investment. My sister’s a labor and delivery nurse in Georgia who works with the women our government neglects. She sees how our 6-week abortion ban hurts women, and this fuels me to overturn the Dobbs decision.
I grew up having to perform active shooter drills, and I’m very familiar with the fear our school children and faculty feel today. This is why I will fight for safer gun legislation. I’m a proud Double Dawg and recipient of Georgia’s HOPE scholarship. HOPE drastically reduced the financial stress of my college education, and is why I will fight for free tuition for our public colleges and universities. Finally, from studying at the London School of Economics and living in London, I experienced a different form of government and a stronger social safety net. This is why I will hold our current administration accountable and advocate for free universal healthcare.
My experience as a community organizer and in local government has prepared me to be a representative for Georgia 9. I’ve worked at the individual level with people asking their government to do more. I’m running for Congress to work at the systemic level to change the systems that are hurting my community.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Protect human rights, including women’s rights, voting rights, the right to due processExpand access to affordable living by increasing the minimum wage and breaking up monopoliesAdvocate for universal healthcare, because government provided healthcare is cheaper and provides better outcomes for people in Georgia
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about education and labor, energy and commerce, and foreign affairs. In Congress, I would want to join those committees and ensure that the policies passed by them protect human rights, expand access to affordable living, and offer greater health coverage for the people in Georgia’s 9th District.
