In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Like a lot of families in Johnson County, Bryan Mouber's came to Kansas looking for something better. Nearly 50 years ago, just before Bryan started first grade, his parents moved the family across the state line for stronger schools, better services, and safer neighborhoods. Bryan attended grades one through twelve in the Shawnee Mission School District, earned his degree at Georgetown University, and interned for Senator Bob Dole in Washington, D.C.

He came home to Kansas as a financial analyst for the old Boatmen's Bank, then earned his law degree from the UMKC School of Law, interning along the way with the Department of Justice, the Department of Labor, and Federal Judge Nanette K. Laughrey. After graduation, Bryan and his wife, Chao, made their first home in Brookside. When their first daughter was born, they faced the very same decision Bryan's parents once had, and chose Kansas for the very same reasons.

Bryan and Chao settled into their current home in Overland Park, where both threw themselves into their daughters' education and their community. They volunteered at school and coached their youngest daughter's soccer team. Bryan also put his law degree to work setting up nonprofits for local volleyball and swim coaches.

Bryan has practiced law in Kansas for more than 25 years. He taught commercial law at UMKC's Bloch School of Management for six years and served as a FINRA arbitrator, helping investors and the securities industry resolve disputes fairly.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Supporting education, including properly funding schools and special/gifted educationBuilding a strong and healthy communityPromoting growth through fair tax policy and sensible regulation

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Public school Education: Fully funding Kansas state obligations for special education and gifted programs allows our local districts the flexibility to lower property taxes, fund our high quality public school education, and invest in our children’s education. All of this is what makes our neighborhoods special and great places to live and the reason we have strong and stable property values.
