In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Bruce Fine | Independent | Tennessee 2nd Congressional District | 2026

I'm a lifelong Tennessean, working-class and proud of it — farmer, marine mechanic, and journalist with a B.S. from the University of Florida. I'm running as an Independent because both parties have failed us. I'll fight to lower the cost of living, protect local healthcare clinics and hospitals, demand fiscal responsibility on our $36 trillion debt, and ensure every child gets a quality education. No special interests. No political machine. Just honest, common-sense leadership.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I am an independent voice -- not a politician, not a party. I am not a lifelong Tennessean. I have no ties to special interests or the political machine. I left the GOP because both parties have abandoned everyday people. I will answer only to the voters of District 2.I will fight for the issues that hit closest to home. The cost of living, affordable housing, protecting local healthcare clinics and hospitals, and giving our children a world-class education are not abstract issues to me — they are the daily reality of the people I will represent.I have lived the life of the people I seek to serve. From farming and fishing to mechanics and journalism, I have worked across trades and industries my entire life. I know what it means to work for a dollar and stretch it. That experience is what I bring to Congress — not a career in politics.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Fiscal responsibility is my top concern. Our federal government carries $36 trillion in debt — roughly $107,000 for every man, woman, and child in America. A family of four shoulders nearly $430,000 of that burden. Yet Washington keeps cutting taxes for the wealthy while working families pay every week without fail.

Closer to home, I'm passionate about lowering the cost of living, protecting our local clinics and hospitals from devastating funding cuts, and ensuring every child receives a world-class education.

These aren't talking points — they are the daily reality of my neighbors. I am one of you.
