In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a Georgia attorney, state senator, and Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Born and raised in Henry County, I graduated from Henry County High School, earned an economics degree from Valdosta State University, and received my law degree before returning home to practice law as an attorney in McDonough. My wife, Lindsay, and I are raising our two sons in the same community where my family’s roots go back generations.
First elected to the Georgia House in 2012 and the state Senate in 2018, I have spent my legislative career focusing on courts, crime, and public safety. As Judiciary Chairman, I have led efforts to address competency hearing delays, protect seniors and nursing home residents, support foster children, strengthen mental health services, combat human trafficking, and back law enforcement officers injured in the line of duty.
I am running for Attorney General because Georgia needs an experienced leader who will follow the facts, apply the law fairly, protect people from harm, and hold wrongdoers accountable.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Protecting Georgians and holding wrongdoers accountable
The Attorney General must actively confront violent crime, organized criminal networks, gangs, human trafficking, fentanyl distribution, consumer fraud, identity theft, elder abuse, and scams targeting vulnerable Georgians. My focus is on protecting victims, disrupting criminal networks, and ensuring our communities are safe.Fairness and accountability under the law
The Attorney General must follow the facts and apply the exact same law to everyone, regardless of party, position, wealth, influence, or connections. No one should receive special treatment, and legal decisions should always be grounded in evidence and state law rather than political pressure.Experience to lead and judgment to be fair
Having practiced law, written state laws, and chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee, I understand that legal decisions directly impact victims, families, defendants, law enforcement, and communities. An effective Attorney General must pair firm enforcement with sound, careful judgment.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about public safety, protecting vulnerable Georgians, consumer protection, mental health, foster care, and protecting Georgia’s land and water.
Public safety requires coordinating across jurisdictions to fight gangs, human trafficking, and fentanyl. Protecting vulnerable Georgians means stopping elder abuse, aiding foster children, and expanding mental health access. Consumer protection requires fighting scams, identity theft, and price gouging. Finally, responsible growth must include enforcing laws that protect clean water, working farms, and healthy communities from dangerous pollution.
