Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I was raised in the small town of Linneus, Missouri and later, in Leeʼs Summit, Missouri. After high school, I was awarded a scholarship to Washington University in St. Louis where he majored in political science and economics, and also studied Mandarin. After completing my undergraduate education, I completed my J.D. at St. Louis University School of Law in 2010.
I built a successful career as a university professor and as a global business executive and senior university education administrator. My ambition has always been rooted in helping others. As I rose through the ranks of leadership, I became even more determined to use my influence abroad to help give others opportunities. I saw how communism put a stranglehold on individuality and discouraged recognition of talent. I became certain that expanding education with western values was the only way to enable personal advancement and provide people with knowledge of the promises of a better future. This made me stringently opposed to communism and strongly mistrusting of the governments of socialist countries.
I aspire to public service because I believe I have a new vision to lead the 5th Missouri Congressional District. I plan to bring home resources to Missouri communities for cutting-edge infrastructural projects, to restore support for rural hospitals and relief to farmers, build education institutions that attract America's best talent, and create new wealth through the expansion of home ownership.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Our government was established to help the people take care of themselves, not to take care of the people. I believe strong local economies are built from the ground up by small businesses, entrepreneurs, and workers who invest in their communities. Growth should reward hard work and innovation of entrepreneurs, not incentivize consolidation. I support reducing burdens on businesses, simplifying taxes, expanding access to capital, strengthening workforce training and apprenticeships, and removing barriers. I back infrastructure and revitalization efforts that help both urban and rural communities. My approach promotes free markets, fiscal discipline, and policies that make it easier to start businesses, hire workers, and grow success.I believe in replacing Section 8 with an alternative approach called the American Dream and Wealth Building Act. The American Dream is built on home ownership, not on spending income on rent that creates no individual wealth for the earner. The core issue is the increasing number of renters and lack of supply of new homes for sale. Home ownership has long been the foundation of financial stability and generational wealth. Too many families are locked into renting instead of building equity. I support policies that expand access to homeownership through grants, mortgage guarantees, down payment assistance, and credit-building programs so working families can buy homes and build lasting wealth.I believe rural Missouri is the backbone of the state and it deserves protection and investment. Our farmers and ranchers are essential to our economy and to the food security of our country. I support responsible farm subsidies that protect family farms, strong crop insurance, and safeguards against unfair foreign competition. I back investing in rural infrastructure, hospitals, and small business growth without federal micromanagement. Communities must be able to manage themselves. The federal government should provide tax incentives and grants that enable localities to do so. I will oppose excessive regulation and corporate consolidation, while promoting fiscally responsible policies that keep rural communities strong and competitive.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about fiscal responsibility. I believe we can use innovations in the federal budgetary processes and deficit reduction to maintain economic growth, keep taxes low, and cut the size of government where it hinders growth. First, we should pass budgets for two years, but do it annually. The purpose annual two year budget would be to revise spending for the upcoming year and plan ahead for the following year. This will keep us from having constant government shutdowns. We should also require the budget deficit we run in any one year to be paid off within 5 years. This would allow us to run deficits in times of recession but require repayment in times of economic growth. This would replace the debt ceiling.
Campaign websiteHueffmeier's campaign website stated the following:On The IssuesMake Housing Affordable AgainToo many working families are struggling to achieve the American Dream of home ownership. Blocking private equity firms from buying single-family homes will help reduce the cost of housing and stop forcing hard working Americans to make from settling for a life of renting instead of home ownership. Brett will also work to reduce unnecessary regulations on the construction of new, single-family homes and to create incentives for developers to build new homes faster. A Trade and Economic Policy that Puts Americans FirstNo American should ever have to train their foreign replacement. Brett will work to end the migrant visa scam that sees workers’ wages undercut and tech jobs taken by foreigners with no loyalty to our country. Brett will also support President Trump’s trade policy of expanding access to foreign markets for America’s manufactured goods, services, and agricultural products.Restore Rural HospitalsOur rural hospitals face closure at an unprecedented rate, putting the lives of seniors, families, and children at risk by denying them access to emergency medicine and making access to care a serious burden. Brett will work to reverse this through smart changes to the policies that caused this decline in the first place. For example, setting caps on punitive damages in medical malpractice cases will reduce the cost of practicing medicine, while reversing the poorly conceived ban on physician-owned facilities treating Medicare and Medicaid patients will encourage more facilities to open.Keep Promises to Our VeteransBrett will fight to expand medical choice for our veterans so they can receive the care they need from the doctors and facilities that serve them best, rather than being dependent solely on the VA. Brett would like to see the first $200,000 exempted from federal income taxes for veterans. Brett will also hire dedicated staff in the district to help veterans navigate government hurdles around the benefits they are owed.Supporting Conservative ValuesBrett will defend the sanctity of life and our Second Amendment rights.— Brett Hueffmeier's campaign website (July 20, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source.
