Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am Brent Andersen, a conservative businessman, proven Republican leader, and devoted husband and father running to represent Florida’s 20th Congressional District.
Raised in a middle-class family as the son of a public school teacher and a union asbestos worker, I learned the value of hard work and personal responsibility early. I earned a B.S. in Finance from Nichols College and in 2010 founded Pilgrim Bay Insurance Agency, a boutique commercial brokerage specializing in construction, real estate, surety, yachts, and personal lines in New England and Southeast Florida. That real-world experience gives me firsthand insight into the insurance and cost-of-living crisis facing Florida families and businesses.
A lifelong Republican, I spent two decades in party leadership roles and held gubernatorial appointments in higher education and state finance.
I am a direct descendant of Revolutionary War patriots and early American settlers, and a life member of the Sons of the Revolution. My wife Yula and I are raising our young daughter in Pompano Beach.
I am running to bring practical, results-oriented conservative leadership to Washington, focused on lowering costs, expanding economic opportunity, and defending the constitutional principles that strengthen families and communities.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Lower costs for Florida families – As an insurance professional who lives the property insurance crisis every day, I will fight for market-based solutions that bring down premiums, housing costs, and the overall cost of living.Economic opportunity and common-sense leadership – I am a builder and problem-solver, not a career politician. I will bring private-sector experience and fiscal responsibility to Congress to grow jobs and opportunity in South Florida.Constitutional principles and strong communities – I will defend limited government, the Second Amendment, secure borders, parental rights, and the American Dream for the next generation.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am most passionate about the issues that hit Florida families the hardest every day: property insurance reform and lowering the cost of living, expanding economic opportunity through practical workforce and small-business policies, fiscal responsibility, strong borders and public safety, and protecting the constitutional rights and American heritage that have always defined our country. My professional experience in insurance and my service in Republican leadership have shown me that real solutions come from people who have built something and understand how policy affects real lives.
