Brad Sherman

Brad Sherman earned a high school diploma from Advance High School and studied at the Maranatha Leadership Training School.[1] Sherman's career experience includes working as the pastor of Solid Rock Church, a heavy equipment operator and mechanic, and a real estate developer. Sherman has served as the chair of the Iowa County Republican Party.[2]

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am married to my wife Carole since 1975. We have 4 children and 13 grand children. One son is an Iraq war veteran. Anther son is a Captain in the Air Force. One daughter lives near us and works as an education aid in a local private school. An other daughter passed away suddenly at the age of 41, leaving 4 children.

I grew up operating dozers and draglines doing farm improvement and drainage work. After high school, I worked in trades for a year and then, after a life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ, I went into ministry training.

I moved to Iowa City in 1981 to pioneer a church with a focus on reaching out to University Students at the University of Iowa. It was there that I saw the socialist/Marxist indoctrination taking place which led to a passion to Restore the Foundations of Freedom that we saw being undermined.

During 45 years of being a pastor, I have done other types of work as well. I have built home and done some real estate development. I cofounded Informed Choices Medical Clinics, a pro-life organization, where I was president and board chair for 10 years. I have been very involved in grassroots political activism, serving as a County chair and as a delegate all the way to the national level. And I have traveled the Midwest teaching seminars of America's Christian History.

I ran for the State Legislature in 2022 and served as an Iowa State Representative. Now I am a candidate running to be the next Governor of Iowa.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

From day one of this campaign I have said “We are in a war for the survival of our nation.” Restoring the Foundations of Freedom is our slogan, but its not simply a slogan, it is an essential objective.

We must restoring the constitutional reverence for God as reflected in the Declaration of Independence. This will primarily be done through an educational reset where civics and patriotism is taught in our schools, imparting an understanding of the unique and remarkable American form of government.

Jefferson said, "Inform the whole mass of the people. They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."Protecting Property Rights from excessive taxation and eminent domain abuse. High taxes and eminent domain can effectively cancel the concept of personal property. According to a quote attributed to George Washington, property rights and freedom are inseparable. You can't have one without the other. Without property rights, we essentially become a socialist state where no one owns anything. Socialism is a choking vine that will grow until it chokes out freedom and life itself.Perhaps the most important issue is protecting life itself. We must protect the unborn, but it is more than that. Life must be protected all the way to natural death, which includes the quality of life in between. This includes addressing health issues like the high cancer rates in Iowa and the increased mental health issues that is rampant across the nation.

Medical Freedom and Food Freedom is a part of addressing these problems. I want encourage the rebuilding rural Iowa and help family farms survive, farms that grow healthy food to be sold and consumed right here in Iowa free from excessive regulations. I also want to encourage medical freedom so doctors are not controlled by top-down policy.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

As Governor, I will not shut down Iowa again like we did during COVID. It is the only time in history I am aware of when we quarantined healthy people and shut down businesses, churches, etc. Those shut downs crippled our economy and did tremendous damage to people's lives.

I have already mentioned education. We have to replace common core with common sense.

We need to expose the "carbon capture" scam. CO2 does not hurt or pollute our atmosphere. This lie is the premise for a significant amount of public corruption.
