Background

Spell was born in Prairie City, Oregon. Her professional experience includes serving as a teacher. Spell attended Eastern Oregon State College, Oregon State University, Mississippi State University, and Portland State University, earning a bachelor's degree in June 1983.[1]

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am the descendant of early settlers of Baker and Grant Counties who came to Oregon in the late 1800's. I want to see our quality of life maintained with good stewardship of our natural resources while providing leadership in seeking ways to still preserve the livelihoods of those who depend upon the land.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

It is time to put adversarial politics to rest and bring us back to a middle ground where both sides of an issue have a voice at the table. We need to work toward ensuring that family wage jobs are preserved through creative and innovative planning. . If the needs of Eastern Oregon are going to be met, we need to be able to articulate them as well as demonstrate an ability to listen to other viewpoints.

Honesty and responsiveness to their constituents.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I am a good listener, problem solver and negotiator. i am willing to work outside the box. I can treat others with respect, even when our ideals do not match up.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To work to improve the quality of life for all in their district,

What legacy would you like to leave?

I would like my grandchildren to know that I chose to do those things I could do to make life better for others.
