In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm a software engineer running for Congress because AI should work for all of us.

Smith College brought me to Massachusetts from my high school in rural Southern Oregon, and I was delighted to find a state that felt like home. I began my activism at Smith, protesting the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and founding a feminist convention. After graduation I moved to Boston and eventually got my first programming job at the Harvard School of Public Health, as a proud member of the Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers.

I've worked as a software engineer ever since, using my skills to build everything from grassroots donation pages, to early AI models, to a stock exchange. In 2022, my partner & I were lucky enough to be able to buy a house in Middleton. Here I found allies against the local MAGA extremists and together we rebooted the Middleton Democratic Committee. I joined the Affordable Housing Trust and Master Plan Committee, working for sustainable growth and strong infrastructure. But with Trump's reelection and the rise of AI, we are facing problems we can't solve at Town Meeting.

I know AI can be useful, but I am horrified at the lack of responsibility in my industry and the lack of concern from politicians. I stepped up to run because I know the government can work well, and it is time we insist it does.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

AI should work for all of us.

These new technologies are being rolled out recklessly, and they are affecting every part of our lives. As a software engineer with 20+ years of experience, I will hold big tech accountable, shut down the explosion of slop factory and deflate the bubble without bailouts.

We need laws that protect people, the environment and our future. AI should be used where it is safe. The new investment must build green energy, instead of letting data centers drive up the price of food, gas and heat. We can stop giving tax cuts to companies that replace humans with machines, and protect Social Security and Medicare in the process.

Humans are more important than corporate profits. It is time the government acts like it.Healthcare For Everyone.

I support Medicare For All, and more. No one should be getting rich when we get sick. Your health should always be between yourself and your doctor. And everyone in America should have access to care.

I've spent the last six years building software for doctors and patients, and I have a detailed understanding of how the system is failing. Losing our job shouldn’t cost us our health insurance. Doctors should get to treat patients instead of arguing with insurance company chatbots.

Expanding funding for community health centers will guarantee access to primary care. Offering additional funding to states that go beyond the minimum will create a race to the top. Step by step, we can build a system we are proud of.Consequences.

Corruption is costing taxpayers billions of dollars and attacking the foundations of our democracy. I will vigorously defend our elections. I will support the prosecution of anyone who has committed crimes, and finally abolish ICE. I will read the code DOGE wrote, figure out what they did with our data, and hold them accountable. We need a foreign policy that prioritizes peace instead of war and genocide. I will end the war in Iran, stop aid for countries violating international law, and roll back Trump’s disastrous tariffs.

It will take dramatic reforms of the Supreme Court, but we can reboot America and ensure nothing like this ever happens again.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Health Care, Reproductive Health, Anti-Trust Enforcement, LGBTQIA+ Rights, and taking responsibility for governing well.

Too often politicians want to dodge the blame. Instead of learning not to go to war after Iraq, Congress learned not to vote on whether to go to war. Every tax cut is government spending that Congress wants to keep off the books. Every government shut down is a fundamental failure to do the job. The national debt is just our government lying to us about what their policies cost.

I won't promise we will always agree, but you will always know what I stand for and I will always take responsibility for what I do.

Campaign websiteAndres-Beck's campaign website stated the following:Save America & Fight CorruptionWe are in a fight for America: it is time to act like it.The biggest threat to our country is this president. My current Representative voted against impeaching Trump. He also takes money from the same corporations he is supposed to regulate. But, corruption goes beyond any one person - we need bold reforms:Ban insider trading by elected officialsInvestigate political bribesReform the Supreme CourtI won't accept corporate donations. And I will vote to impeach Trump for every crime he commits.Working for the Working ClassOur economy should work for us, not just billionaires.Working people deserve more. Here’s how we get there:Build an immigration system that grows our workforce without exploiting itMake a $15 minimum wage a realityStrengthen worker’s rights to organizePass a robot tax that levels the playing fieldWorking people built this country. It’s time they had someone in Congress who fights with them.Healthcare For EveryoneHealthcare is a human right and abortion is healthcare. We do not need politicians playing doctor. Your body is yours. Every American should be able to afford the care they need.Unfortunately, we are far from that today. To get there, I will:Relentlessly defend access to abortion and LGBTQIA+ careEstablish a just transition to Medicare For AllReform Social Security to better serve disabled AmericansProtect the VAUniversal healthcare is good for workers, good for small businesses, and good for the country.Government Software That Works For YouDOGE is what happens when out-of-touch billionaires aren’t held accountable. Elon Musk stole your data and wrecked the government.Congress doesn’t seem to understand what just happened, but I do. I’ve spent my career standing up to people like Elon Musk and his fanboys. While my Representative needs lobbyists to explain how tech works, here’s what I will do:Give you control over your own dataHave government agencies build software that works for youInvestigate the DOGE disaster and hold them accountableAmericans deserve representatives who understand the technology they are regulating.A Just Foreign PolicyWe need a stable, measured foreign policy. That is why the Constitution says Congress must establish tariffs and start wars. But Congress has abandoned its duty. My Representative even voted against impeaching Trump. He thinks US Presidents should be able to start wars whenever they want.Instead, I will:Oppose all wars of aggressionWork for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and a future of freedom and dignity for all Israelis and PalestiniansStop the tariff chaosSupport Ukraine’s right to resist the invasionImpeach Trump for any and all crimes he commitsAmerica’s foreign policy shouldn’t be about what makes money for defense contractors. It should create a stable world.— Beth Andres-Beck's campaign website (July 7, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source.
