Audrey Lux earned a high school diploma from Parkview High School and a bachelor's degree from the Virginia Tech in 2023. Her career experience includes working as a forester.[1]

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a former legislative staffer, state forester, and community organizer running to make sure we have a strong, progressive voice at the Georgia State Capitol who’s ready, willing, and able to serve on day one. I grew up here, went to public school here, and chose to build my professional life in this district. I understand personally the devastating harm that’s coming out of the Georgia State Capitol right now, but I also know the good we can do for the people with the right folks in office at the right time. Good, like raising the minimum wage, expanding Medicaid, improving public transportation, and protecting our fundamental civil rights and liberties. Join the movement, and let’s send a clear message to the MAGA Republicans that Georgians want change for good.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Affordability: I want to raise the state minimum wage from $5.15 to at least $15.15 per hour, cap private equity from purchasing single-family homes, expand Medicaid, place a moratorium on data center construction, and provide universal free school meals so our children can focus on learning, not hunger.Civil rights- I want to pass the Georgia Civil Rights Act, protect bodily autonomy, defend LGBTQ+ rights and marriage equality, expand defendant rights, and protect both undocumented immigrants and U.S. citizens from unconstitutional ICE civil rights abuses.Transportation: I want to expand the MARTA Blue Line eastward, make our streets safer and more accessible for pedestrians and cyclists, and increase public bus routes and frequency of service.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

As an environmental scientist and forester, I recognize that climate change and environmental degradation impact all of us. I will advocate for a data center moratorium, investment in public transportation, investment in renewable energy sources, and sustainable forestry management. Other policy passions of mine include gun control, criminal justice reform, and public education.
