In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Anthony Looney and I am the democratic nominee for Kentucky's 81st house district. I am a husband, nurse practitioner, first generation college graduate, and lifelong Kentuckian. I humbly ask for your support on election day.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
As a nurse practitioner, I believe in affordable and equitable healthcare for all Kentuckians. Strengthening Medicaid & Medicare services for our disabled and elderly is essential in providing healthcare for all.As a person who received public school education, I am committed to strengthening public education across the state. Every child in Kentucky deserves access to quality education, regardless of their background or where they live. By fully funding public schools and supporting our teachers, we can ensure that all students have the tools they need to succeed and thrive in the future.I advocate for a fair and equitable income-based tax system. This means ensuring that the wealthy pay their fair share, helping to strengthen and support our communities through transparent taxation.
I believe it's past time to raise the minimum wage. When working people succeed, the entire economy flourishes. Raising the minimum wage would directly benefit many Kentuckians, stimulating local economies and reducing poverty.
I believe in the power of organized labor that supports worker’s rights. Unions improve working conditions, ensures fair wages, and secures health & retirement benefits. I support labor movements, fair labor laws, and the idea that workers should have a strong voice in negotiating with employers.
