In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I come from a family who believed in serving the community. My father was Mayor of our town and my mother worked as a social worker and later for the Girl Scouts. My husband ran for Congress. I believe that our way of life is worth fighting for. Freedom is not automatic, it has to be renewed in each generation. People in many foreign countries would like to live in the U.S. Though our system is not perfect, it can be fixed with attention to laws. Unlike other governments, we believe that our rights do not come from government - they come from God. "Certain unalienable rights" and it is the job of our representatives in government to protect those rights.

In California we are strangling under regulations that keep us from making a living. Businesses have moved out of California because of high taxes and regulations. As a result there are few jobs. We don't produce things anymore. There is a satisfaction about producing something. Citizens become discouraged when they can't find work. We must create a business friendly environment and bring companies back to California. That is the way to a healthy economy. Remember, Rome fell when she stopped producing.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Lower taxes and regulationsQuality education, involving signed contracts between parents, teachers, and students. We pay a lot for education and we want accountability. We must prosecute crime. If we allow crime, we condone it. We must hold criminals accountable.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Assembly members need to think together and write legislation. Currently it does not work that way. Lawyers write the legislation. The problem is that we get laws with unintended consequences because not enough thought goes into them, for example, the plastic bags we were mandated to buy for years. No one thought about their disposal and how devastating that would be for the environment.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

Reform California, GBRA, PGRA, Khushro Ghandhi, Lois Lee Billings, Ray Lepone, Louis Barnett
