In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Welcome,

Kansas has always been my home.  It is where I was born and raised, and where I nurtured and educated my three wonderful children.   I enrolled in Kansas universities to receive my degrees in Horticultural Therapy (BS), Elementary Education (BS), and Special Education (MS). (I also hold an EdD in Education with an emphasis in special education from the University of New England.)

I believe our state continues to have immense growth potential. However, for Kansas to achieve its full potential, there will be hard work ahead.  Tough decisions may have to be made. I am ready to make those decisions.  I will fight hard to reduce property taxes, promote education, and say, "NO!" to the construction of data centers. I am ready to work hard for the citizens of District 90.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Affordability - Kansans are struggling financially. There are being hit by rising taxes, grocery prices, and fuel prices. Farmers and ranchers, especially, as well as single-family homeowners are having to make tough decisions regarding what they can continue to afford versus what personal expenses they will have to remove or cancel.   One way to help working Kansans is to find a more viable and accurate way to assess the value of each property. It is critical to Kansans to promote a firmer financial standing.Education - Funding for education has been decreasing. Proponents for funding see education as an essential priority for the students in Kansas. The Opposition would have you believe that Kansas teachers are failing the students and not doing their jobs. Kansas teachers are required to teach the the academic standards that the Kansas State Department of Education writes, as well as teachers are required to have continuing education to keep their jobs. Privatization of school is not an option, as private schools do not have to teach to the same academic standards, nor so they have to teach students who have IEPs, Section 504s, or any behavioral issues. Public school district do not hand pick students, they offer an education to all.Absolutely NO data centers. Data center pull vital natural resources away from the communities, citizens, and other who rely on them. Data center take away farming/ranching land, as well as water from the area. Kansas continues to be in a state of drought, so why would be offer up that resource to entities that will do nothing for the area.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

The individuals who are making the decisions on education and its funding should actually listen to academics who have experience teaching. I find similarities between corporate raiders who dismantle and business that they know nothing about and the individuals who have been tasked in funding education and providing for our future generations.

Keep politics out of our judicial branch. Judges should not be elected into office by individuals as lobbyist and super PACs have the ability to throw around large amounts of money to only push through their own political agenda by strong arming another branch of government. There is a reason why we have three branches of government - it is to keep them all in check.
