In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Amy Rigsby is a lifelong Ohian, a dedicated educator, and a fierce advocate for families. Born and raised in a working-class neighborhood on the southeast side of Columbus, Amy’s commitment to public service is rooted in a childhood shaped by both hardship and resilience. Having navigated the profound loss of her brother to suicide at a young age and the subsequent challenges of a fractured home, she developed an early, intimate understanding of the critical need for robust mental health support—a priority that serves as the North Star of her campaign.

Amy Rigsby began her professional journey by breaking cycles. A graduate of Groveport Madison Local Schools, she worked her way through Columbus State Community College and eventually Muskingum University. Her early career in the legal and political sectors—working for the firm of Rinehart, Howarth, Rishel & Kopech and later serving as a Victim Advocate for the Columbus City Attorney’s Office—solidified her belief that the fundamental role of government is to make the lives of its citizens easier and more secure.

After a period dedicated to raising her family, Amy followed a calling into education. While earning her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology (Summa Cum Laude, 2014), she and her husband, Jason, expanded their family from four to six by adopting two children from West Elementary in Lancaster.
