In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a proud mother of 4, Christian and wife. I am a first generation latina woman to parents who immigrated from Mexico and also 1st generation to graduate high school and hold a bachelors degree in university studies from UT Arlington. I am currently attending the university for my Masters degree in multidisciplinary studies with a focus in Rural health. I grew up seeing firsthand the struggles of working families, so I understand hard work. I am also a mental health advocate with many other things I advocate for; it isn’t just a talking point for me it’s the heartbeat of my work. I spent years on the front lines of healthcare and was only two classes away from finishing my nursing degree when I hit a crossroads. I realized that while I loved caring for people, I was being called to fight for them in a different way. I chose to pivot into the legal world because I saw a desperate need for advocacy that goes beyond the exam room.
Currently, I serve as a legal assistant, but my most important 'credentials' come from my lived experience, growing up struggling to now. Both my son and I navigate learning disabilities every single day. I’ve seen the gaps in the system, and I’ve felt the frustration of being misunderstood. But those struggles didn’t break me they fueled the fire I needed to stand up and lead. I’m not just a professional; I’m a mother and a neighbor who knows exactly what’s at stake for our community.

We can’t talk about the future of Texas if we can’t keep the taps on. District 22’s rural counties are being squeezed by aging infrastructure and depleting aquifers, and I’m here to treat water like the life-or-death priority it is.
In District 22, water isn't just a utility; it’s our lifeline. Our rural neighbors are watching their wells go dry while infrastructure crumbles under the weight of growth. I’m running to move past the 'wait and see' approach. I will fight for a seat at the table to ensure our rural counties get their fair share of the Texas Water Fund, focusing on modernizing the pipes we have and securing the water we need for the next generation. No water, no Texas it's that simple. As a former healthcare worker and almost-nurse, I know the system is broken. Rural healthcare isn’t just about having an ER nearby; it’s about mental health access and keeping our local hospitals from shuttering.
I’ve spent years in the healthcare trenches, and I’ve seen where the system leaves people behind, especially in our rural communities. We don’t just need more 'awareness'; we need more providers and fewer barriers. My mission is to use my background as a legal assistant and healthcare advocate to protect our rural hospitals and expand health services in all areas. I’m not just looking at a chart; I’m looking at your family, and I know we deserve better than the bare minimum."Our schools are the backbone of rural Texas. We need to fund them fully, respect our teachers, and ensure that every student including those with learning disabilities, has a path to success without being left behind by state-level politics.
As a mom navigating the education system with a son who has learning disabilities, I know that 'one size fits all' doesn't work for District 22. Our rural schools are the heartbeat of our towns, yet they’re being used as political bargaining chips. I’m standing for fully funded public education that respects our teachers and supports every student’s unique needs. I’ve got the fire to fight for our kids. It’s time for an advocate who actually understands what’s happening.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
My passion for public policy is rooted in the belief that the government should work just as hard as the people of District 22 do. I don't just study these issues; I’ve lived them. My focus is on three critical pillars:
Sustainable Water & Infrastructure: We cannot have a thriving Texas if our rural farmers and families are worried about their wells going dry.
Healthcare Accessibility: With my background in healthcare and my journey in nursing school, I’ve seen the gap.
Empowering Public Education: Our schools are the heart of our rural towns. Every policy I support is filtered through a simple lens: Does this make life better for the families in my community? If it doesn’t, I’m here to change it."
