In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Allison Bush is a dedicated public education advocate with over 25 years of experience as a teacher, school counselor, nonprofit executive director, and community advocate in Central Texas. Her commitment to education is deeply personal: as a fourth-grader with dyslexia, she had a teacher who believed in her and refused to give up, changing the trajectory of her life. That experience inspired her lifelong mission to ensure every Texas student has a fair shot at success.

Allison has served as Executive Director of the Pflugerville Education Foundation and Bastrop Education Foundation, where she led strategic fundraising initiatives, coordinated community volunteers, and secured critical resources for public schools. She has served as President of a statewide education association and currently advises multiple public school education foundations on board development, voter engagement, and grassroots organizing.

She is a proud graduate of the LBJ Women’s Campaign School at The University of Texas at Austin, Leadership Women, and Stephen F. Austin State University, reflecting her commitment to leadership and public service. Allison has also served as a Texas Education Agency surrogate parent for special needs foster children, advocating for students who often lack a consistent voice. Her professional experience bridges classroom realities with the policy decisions that shape public education statewide.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Texas faces a teacher crisis driven by shortages, burnout, and low pay. Allison Bush knows what it's like to be in the classroom, and she will fight for policies that reduce paperwork, provide resources, improve teacher retention, and restore dignity to the teaching profession. As a former educator and proud union member, Allison believes teachers should never be used as political pawns or punching bags. She is committed to listening to teachers themselves, understanding that every district, every subject, and every community has unique needs. Supporting teachers also means supporting their mental health and well-being so they can focus on what matters most: inspiring the next generation of Texas students. No child should fall behind simply because of where they live or which school they attend. Texas has allowed unchecked charter expansion without proper oversight, diverting critical resources from traditional public schools, the backbone of our communities. Allison Bush will ensure all schools receiving taxpayer dollars, whether traditional public or charter, are held to the same high academic standards, fiscal transparency, and accountability requirements. She will fight to ensure that voucher and funding policies strengthen classrooms rather than fuel corporate profits, putting equity and responsible spending at the center of every education decision.Every student in Texas deserves a classroom where learning, not politics, comes first. Allison Bush will fight to protect accurate history education, age-appropriate health education, and safe, inclusive school campuses while ensuring teachers have the trust and autonomy to do their jobs effectively. She believes the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards should serve as a roadmap for preparing students for success, not as a tool for partisan political agendas. Academic standards must reflect the expertise of educators and subject matter professionals. Allison will center the voices of parents, students, and communities in shaping school policy, not politicians.
