Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm Alex Avery. I'm just like, this guy, you know? I drive a semi truck and play World of Warcraft, and I think freedom is pretty cool.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

The government sucks.Taxation is theft.I hate politics.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

As a libertarian, my goals are nothing less than a world set free. The end of the mass robbery the government calls "taxation." The end of the slaveries of conscription and mandatory jury service. The The end of compulsory education laws. The complete emancipation of mankind from government.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

Ethics of Liberty by Murray Rothbard

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Principles that guide their votes, instead of party leadership.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I put my principles above all else.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Reading the bills and voting in accordance with your principles.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I want people to say "hey, remember that Alex Avery guy who made a 1000 science per minute mega base in Factorio with no bots and no trains? I mean, belts all the way from the mining drills to the labs. What a legend. Also he defeated that crappy anti privacy bill or whatever."

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

Monica Lewinski scandal, at age 9

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

Installing pool tables with my Uncle when I was 16. I didn't last long as I was not strong enough for that work.

What is your favorite book? Why?

Ethics of Liberty by Murray Rothbard. Changed my outlook on everything.

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Are We Alone from the Factorio soundtrack loops in my head at all times.

What is something that has been a struggle in your life?

Getting Keystone Hero achievements in World of Warcraft as a pugger whenever my main spec is considered off-meta.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

The government is our greatest challenge, our greatest obstacle.

What are your thoughts on term limits?

One term in office, one term in jail ought to do it.

Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

I'll just be me.

Tell us your favorite joke.

Kleptomaniacs don't understand puns because they always take things literally.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Of course. I would support a bill to cut the CIA in half even if I'd rather dismantle it completely.

How should the U.S. House use its investigative powers?

Subpoenas are forced labor. I oppose that.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

My mom.

What committees interest you?

Nobody who enjoys meetings should be in charge of anything.

What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?

The government needs to stop spying on us and start being spied on by us. Everything they do should be out in the open.
