Campaign websiteLemmo's campaign website stated the following:Defending the Sanctity of LifeMichigan families believe in protecting the most vulnerable. Al Lemmo is unapologetically pro-life and will fight in Congress to defend the unborn while standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Michigan mothers, children, and families.Even after Michigan’s recent legal changes, there is still important work Congress can do to protect life, support women, and ensure taxpayers are not forced to fund abortion.Defending the UnbornAs your Congressman, Al Lemmo will: Oppose the use of federal tax dollars to fund abortion providers serving Michigan.Support federal protections for babies born alive after attempted abortions.Back reasonable national limits on late-term abortionsProtect conscience rights for Michigan doctors, nurses, and faith-based hospitals.Standing With Michigan MothersBeing pro-life means delivering real help, not just rhetoric.Expand access to prenatal and maternal care in Michigan, especially in underserved and rural communities.Support and protect Michigan pregnancy resource centers that provide diapers, ultrasounds, parenting classes, and counseling.Increase support for community health centers across Southeast Michigan and beyond.Promote policies that lower the cost of raising a family in Michigan. Strengthening Adoption in MichiganToo many Michigan families face unnecessary barriers to adoption. As your Congressman, Al Lemmo will:Provide federal tax relief and incentives to make adoption more affordableStreamline interstate adoption processes that affect Michigan familiesProtecting the VulnerableA culture of life must protect people at every stage. As your Congressman, Al Lemmo will:Oppose assisted suicide and expand access to palliative and hospice care.Support faith-based and private adoption agencies serving our communities.Protect individuals with disabilities from discrimination before and after birth.Work with Michigan faith groups, nonprofits, and local leaders to support mothers in crisis.Delivering A Cleaner MichiganWashington politicians want to impose radical environmental mandates that drive up energy prices, destroy manufacturing jobs, and make America dependent on China. Michigan families deserve something different. My environmental policy protects our water, our land, and our jobs without sacrificing our economy.Protect the Great Lakes - Not Foreign PollutersThe Great Lakes are Michigan’s greatest natural resource. But Washington politicians talk about climate while ignoring real threats. It's time to:Stop invasive species like Asian carp before they devastate the Great Lakes.Hold polluters accountable for contaminating our water.Invest in real cleanup projects instead of bureaucratic climate programs.Protecting the Great Lakes should be about results, not political slogans.Clean Water Without Government FailureMichigan families remember what happens when government incompetence fails to protect drinking water.Washington politicians respond with more bureaucracy instead of solutions. It's time to:Upgrade aging water infrastructure across mid-Michigan.Replace failing pipes before communities face another crisis.Give states and local governments the tools to fix problems quickly.Comparing Plans: Michigan's EconomyFor too long, Washington politicians have pushed policies that look good in press releases but hurt working families in Genesee, Saginaw, Bay, and Midland counties.Michigan’s 8th District needs a representative who will fight for local jobs, lower costs, and American manufacturing, not more bureaucracy and inflation. The result of Rep. McDonald-Rivet's Record is mid-Michigan manufacturers face higher costs and more uncertainty.America First ManufacturingMy Plan:Full expensing for factory equipmentIncentives to reshore supply chainsStrong Buy American enforcementFaster permits for plant expansionsKristen McDonald Rivet’s Record:Supported policies that increased regulatory costsBacked spending bills that fueled inflationFailed to stop supply chains from moving overseasSmall Business ReliefMy Plan:Make small business tax cuts permanentExpand the 20% small business deductionFor every regulation instituted, two must be removedSimpler federal permittingKristen McDonald Rivet’s Approach:Supports more federal regulationBacked massive spending packagesSided with Washington bureaucracies over Mid-MichiganMy opponent’s policies have left local businesses in Flint, Bay City, and Saginaw struggling to expand and hire.Mid-Michigan WorkforceMy Plan:Expand apprenticeshipsSupport skilled tradesStrengthen career and technical educationPartner with local manufacturersKristen McDonald Rivet’s Approach:Focuses on federal workforce programs with limited resultsSupports policies that push four-year degrees over tradesUnder democratic leadership, good paying skilled jobs go unfilled in Mid-Michigan.— Al Lemmo's campaign website (July 29, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source. Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Having invested the majority of my life in and around Dearborn, Michigan, I have come to realize a couple of very important realities. The first is that Detroit, for whatever political reason, has been all but abandoned by the very people who should have been helping to make living conditions better for all our citizens. The second reality is that the Detroit Metropolitan area has all but been used as a guinea pig in a social experiment by the Democrat Party.

It is my belief that with my 30-years experience as a civilian mechanical engineer for the United States Army in Warren, Mi, and my degree in biology, I am equipped to bring answers to our problems in this District.

I am a staunch believer that children should be cared for and that begins in the womb. I believe in a smaller government, but one that cares for her citizens. I believe that we need a strong defense, and I believe that we need to retool our education system as we are leaving far too many of our future behind.

I am a very real Republican who happens to love and care about our people in the 13th District. I am honest, faithful to the cause, and will serve with an open-door policy while being totally transparent.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

The current social unrest and defunding the police across America: Of course I fully support peaceful protest as that is guaranteed under our precious First Amendment. Currently, various groups have taken to the streets to not peacefully protest but cause economic hardship to business owners, home owners and even causing physical harm to private citizens. This must stop immediately! Looking at Seattle, Washington and the events happening in that great city is all the reason that we as patriotic Americans need to justify supporting our law enforcement officers. I shudder to think what this nation would be like without well trained law enforcement officers. The act known as abortion; Far too many Americans believe and think that abortion is the answer to a woman's problems when she has an unwanted pregnancy. That is simply not the case. Yes, there are occasions when an abortion is a necessity, but the very sad truth is, that is mostly not the case. It is my belief that legalizing this destructive act has done damage to our nation that many Americans will never realize. Beside the fact that women carry the scars on their hearts for the rest of their lives, the act itself has diminished our respect for humanity on a national level. This act must begin to be curbed in society before we lose our humanity altogether.Accusations that America is systemically racist; The sad truth is that institutional and structural racism takes many forms and is found in many areas of American life. We need to remove such obstacles wherever we find them so that our society can more closely live up to its ideals of liberty and justice for all and equal justice under law. As your next U.S. Congressman in the 13th District, I will fight to make these goals realities.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

The bedrock of our culture is the Judeo-Christian religion with its Ten Commandments of God, which are basic civilizational rules that are found in many other cultures as well. I am astounded that the Democrat Party has adopted a policy agenda that violates virtually all of these Commandments and that it has hardly been challenged for it. What has passed for leadership on the political right has meekly succumbed to accepting terms for the ongoing culture war that are overwhelmingly prejudicial against us and our country. They have meekly and uncritically accepted the phony claim that our opponents are "secular," as though free of any thinking based on religious faith and driven only by reason, rationality, and moral superiority. In reality, they are the real religious fanatics, fervently worshiping the false idols of their own intellects and powers of reason and convinced that the rest of us should do likewise. Having appointed themselves gods, they have empowered themselves to decide who does or doesn't matter (is or isn't a person), that they alone know right from wrong, that taxation to pay for things not authorized under the Constitution isn't theft, that the Constitution is a "living document" that means anything they want it to say, etc. I am passionate about exposing this masquerade of the idolaters as secularists, tearing down their mask of secularism, to destroy their agenda from Hell before it destroys us as a nation and as individuals.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I look up to and would like to follow the example of my father. He commanded an artillery battery in WWII and fought in the campaigns through North Africa, Sicily and mainland Italy, often serving as a forward observer, moving ahead of the front lines and calling back coordinates to aim the guns. It was very dangerous work. At a cousin's wedding some years ago, I met some older relatives whom I had not met before but who remembered him. The thing they remembered him most for was courage.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I am honest and direct with people. I try to get to the root of issues and see relationships among them.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The election of John F. Kennedy. I was eight years old.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I was an assistant to the custodian of a public school during my summer vacation. Probably about 10 weeks.

What is your favorite book? Why?

1984. Orwell really understood those obsessed with power and we are watching his understanding unfold before our eyes today.

If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?

Possibly Superman

What was the last song that got stuck in your head?

Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin)

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

It is "The People's House," most closely connected with the people and coming up for election every two years. Members must stay in touch with the views and needs of their constituents. I have walked among the Senators and Representatives myself when I've visited the Capitol. It may be a unique institution, or at least it was, that an ordinary citizen could do that.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

Yes, it is probably beneficial to have such experience but there are many kinds of experience and many other activities in which experience relevant to the job of representative can be acquired.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

Our greatest challenges include providing clean, renewable and affordable energy, meeting the economic challenges of other nations, finding suitable employment for low skill or low aptitude individuals, removing unjust obstacles to opportunities in education, mobility, and employment.

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

I would want to be part of committees that deal with issues most relevant to the concerns of my constituents but also those that affect the overall cultural climate of the nation.

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

It is the right length for responsiveness to the people but makes for a necessity to do constant fundraising.

Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

Henry Hyde of Illinois or Chris Smith of New Jersey.
