Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Professional experience: I am an educator, executive leader, and community advocate with more than a decade of experience serving Minnesota families. I currently serve as the Executive Director of a K–8 public charter STEM academy in the South Metro, a school I built from the ground up, overseeing facilities, staffing, budgeting, compliance, and collaborating with the board of directors. This role has given me direct, hands-on experience managing public funds, leading complex organizations, and delivering results.
Academic Background: I have a Master of Arts in Public Administration, a Master of Science in Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Family Social Science. My educational background, which combines policy, education, and community development, helps me understand how federal funding decisions affect working families, schools, and local communities.
Capacity Building: I am bilingual in Somali and English and have built strong partnerships across nonprofit, private, and government sectors. I am running for Congress to bring practical leadership, ethical governance, and an independent voice to Minnesota’s 2nd District, focused on accountability, opportunity, and results, not politics as usual.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Addressing affordability, reducing the cost of living for middle-class families, investing more in education, and rebuilding trust in governmentAs an educator and school leader, I understand that education is the foundation of economic opportunities. I will advocate for stronger schools, support our educators, expand workforce training programs, and make higher education more affordable. My goal is clear: to prioritize working families and ensure that government effectively serves the people, delivering positive results that make a real difference in their everyday lives.A strong economy begins with strong families and local businesses. I support reducing unnecessary costs for working families, strengthening domestic manufacturing, investing in infrastructure, expanding workforce development, and helping small businesses grow. We should address supply-chain challenges, encourage responsible fiscal policies, and reduce barriers that prevent entrepreneurs from creating jobs while keeping inflation under control.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
A strong nation ensures every child has an opportunity to succeed and every family can live with dignity. We should strengthen access to affordable health care, quality education, stable housing, nutrition programs, and workforce opportunities while promoting accountability and long-term financial sustainability. Helping people become self-sufficient strengthens our communities and our economy.
