In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Abdallah Alkodah, and I am an EMT and first responder running as an independent candidate for Illinois State Representative in the 13th District. I have spent years serving people directly during emergencies and difficult moments, which inspired me to step into public service and advocate for working families and underrepresented communities. My campaign is grassroots-driven and focused on accountability, transparency, affordability, public transit, education, and addressing the homelessness crisis. I believe independent leadership and working across both sides of the aisle are important to delivering real solutions for the people of Illinois.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
1.Government accountability and transparency
I believe government should work for the people, not political insiders or special interests. My campaign is focused on increasing transparency, accountability, and public trust in government. As an independent candidate, I believe it is important to work with both Democrats and Republicans to deliver practical solutions instead of partisan division and political gridlock.2.Affordability and lowering the cost of living
• Addressing the homelessness crisis with practical solutions
Affordability, Housing, and Public Transit
Working families across Illinois are struggling with the rising cost of living, housing instability, and transportation challenges. I support practical efforts to improve affordability, address the homelessness crisis with humane and realistic solutions, and make public transit more accessible, reliable, and safe for everyday residents who depend on it.3.Education, Healthcare, and Community Investment
As an EMT and first responder, I have seen firsthand how important strong public services are to our communities. I support strengthening education, improving access to healthcare, and investing in local communities so residents have the opportunities and resources they need to succeed and live with dignity.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am personally passionate about affordability, government accountability and transparency, public transit, education, healthcare access, and addressing the homelessness crisis. As an EMT and first responder, I have seen firsthand how rising costs, housing instability, and lack of access to resources affect working families and vulnerable communities. I believe public transit should be accessible, reliable, and safe, and that government should focus on practical solutions that improve everyday life for residents. I am also passionate about independent leadership that is willing to work with both Democrats and Republicans to deliver results for the people of Illinois.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
The Green party and the Independence party. Most importantly, the hardworking men and women in the 13th district who want the right leadership in Springfield.
