In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I grew up in Inver Grove Heights and am proud to call this community home. After high school, I served four years in the U.S. Army infantry and later deployed twice to Afghanistan as a military contractor. I went on to study law and politics and have worked in public policy and the legal field, both in Washington and here at home. Today, I work in legal support at a nonprofit public interest law center. I’m running for the Minnesota House to bring my experience in service, law, and public policy back home and serve the community that raised me.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Minnesota families deserve a government that lives within its means. I will work to restrain government spending, lower the tax burden on working families and businesses, and remove unnecessary barriers to free enterprise and economic growth. Government should respect the people who earn every taxpayer dollar and focus spending on its fundamental responsibilities, not continually expanding bureaucracy and asking Minnesotans to pay more. I will fight fraud, waste, and abuse by demanding stronger oversight, transparency, and accountability from state government.Safe communities require strong law enforcement and respect for individual liberty. I will support the men and women of law enforcement, stronger consequences for violent criminals, and the right of law-abiding Minnesotans to protect themselves and their families. Minnesotans must be empowered to exercise their right to self-defense while also being able to count on law enforcement to prevent crime and apprehend criminals, and on prosecutors to prosecute them.Property rights, local control, and free markets are essential to a free and prosperous Minnesota. I believe government should interfere as little as possible in the market economy because excessive regulation, mandates, and centralized decision-making too often make problems worse rather than solve them. I will defend property rights, reduce unnecessary regulatory barriers, and trust individuals, businesses, and local communities to make decisions for themselves.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I’m particularly passionate about constitutional government, individual liberty, public safety, property rights, and government accountability. My background in the military, law, and public policy has shaped my belief that government is most effective when it focuses on its fundamental responsibilities: protecting Minnesotans from those who seek to harm, steal from, or take advantage of them, while otherwise allowing individuals, families, businesses, and communities the freedom to make their own decisions. I’m especially interested in policies that restrain government power, protect individual rights, strengthen the rule of law, and expand economic freedom.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

The only organizational endorsement I have accepted is that of my local Republican Party. Beyond that, I made a commitment at the beginning of this campaign that I would not accept PAC money or pledge allegiance to special-interest groups. I believe PAC and special-interest money has been harmful to our political system and too often leaves voters wondering who their representatives actually answer to. This campaign is 100% grassroots and funded by individuals. If elected, my allegiance will be to my constituents, my principles, the Constitution, and God, not organizations that financed my campaign.
