Ohio's voter identification law will be in effect on Election Day.
Advocates for the homeless have dropped a federal lawsuit that challenged the law, which requires voters to show either a government-issued ID, such as a driver's license, or some other form that shows a name and address, such as a utility bill. The Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless had argued that the law represented an unconstitutional poll tax. They also were concerned that many homeless voters would be forced to vote on provisional ballots because many don't have a valid ID.
An agreement reached Friday with Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner sets guidelines on how provisional ballots will be treated across all Ohio counties.
